Well, I have an image in my portfolio with angel wings and I'm keeping it there, and will use them again, when the time is right.

Let me just get this out of the way about every cliche thread and frustration.

If you can shoot it so it looks new and original- you are a successful artist and will garner much admiration from the trained eyes.
Many of the untrained ones will not understand the difference and will either turn away from original spins on old ideas or will try themselves, fail, and be torn to shreds by those that think they can do better.

And the biggest one- whether or not you have seen or done it yourself- it has probably been done before.

If you don't like it- don't look at it.
Complaining won't make it go away.
Imitation and comparison is how we learn to improve, if you can't stand the "almost required" beginning shots- go somewhere that only has high paid fashion photographers and agency models.

Angel wings, caution tape, thong on the heel, hand bras, girls with guns, etc... are here to stay.
Sorry to burst any hope you might have of originality.

As with any business: if it sells, people will supply it! Enough people still like some of these images enough to encourage those that make them.
Embodying/capturing a "classic" image, (no matter how cheesy) can give you a sense of belonging in this industry that demands what sells and is recognizable

Thank you so much for the advice.  From now on I will use your port as a basis from which I will derive all acceptable ideas.  Please keep us updated on anything else we shouldn't do.

I think the people who keep shooting these cliches, don't read the threads telling them to stop. I hate it too how about the candy shots, it always looks cheap too. They are laying down on like 20 pieces of candy with a lollipop in their mouth in their cheap underwear how wonderful.

We need someone to do a shoot where one chick with a gun is shooting the wings off another chick.

And chicks&cars are still hotness.
Guns,Angel wings, rose petals, whatever. They can all as well suck as be amazing.
Everything is cliched. But we all have a different perspective on each idea. And that's what's important to make obvious in the images.

Photography has been around since 1836.

Can we all just assume that almost everything has been done at least once or twice since then?  Just  because you did it once and don't want to anymore doesn't mean the rest of us should be discouraged from taking a whack at it.  One of us just might surprise you someday.

Photographers who don't know what they are doing will take bad photos weather they are cliches or not.

Just a thought.
