If you can shoot it so it looks new and original- you are a successful artist and will garner much admiration from the trained eyes. Many of the untrained ones will not understand the difference and will either turn away from original spins on old ideas or will try themselves, fail, and be torn to shreds by those that think they can do better. And the biggest one- whether or not you have seen or done it yourself- it has probably been done before. If you don't like it- don't look at it. Complaining won't make it go away. Imitation and comparison is how we learn to improve, if you can't stand the "almost required" beginning shots- go somewhere that only has high paid fashion photographers and agency models. Angel wings, caution tape, thong on the heel, hand bras, girls with guns, etc... are here to stay. Sorry to burst any hope you might have of originality. As with any business: if it sells, people will supply it! Enough people still like some of these images enough to encourage those that make them. Embodying/capturing a "classic" image, (no matter how cheesy) can give you a sense of belonging in this industry that demands what sells and is recognizable Jul 06 08 01:01 pm Link Guess we will not hear from the OP for the reasoning of the start of this thread. Can we all just assume that almost everything has been done at least once or twice since then? Just because you did it once and don't want to anymore doesn't mean the rest of us should be discouraged from taking a whack at it. One of us just might surprise you someday. Photographers who don't know what they are doing will take bad photos weather they are cliches or not. Just a thought.
