What's the story with these two. The 102's of course are dirt cheap, but from the spec pages that focusing ring on the 202vf looks pretty nify. How does it compare to the Profoto zoom reflectors?

I take it you are referring to the Speedotron 102 vs. the 202VF?  I own 102 units, and they are loud as hell.  If I had to do it all over again I'd go 202 units - quieter and you can focus them.  More expensive though.

Loud? As in the fan is loud?

No debate at all.  202vf heads are superior.  More compact, quieter, focusing ring/accessory attachment is much easier to use than 102,can get deeper into modifiers, larger flash tube, detachable head cable (less likely to wear/break in packing).  That's a lot of reasons, there are others.  Plus they look cooler than 102s.

Yes, 102 fan is loud. 202 fan is quiet.

Alright then.

Still, can anyone comment on the adjustable reflector mount? How's it compare to Profoto?
