Anyone live in this neck of the woods know of any good places to shoot.  I heard that there are a lot of grassy fields and what not.  I've heard of everything from old wind mills or wineries.

Anyone have anything specific out towards Lake Elsinore?

You do need to personally check the areas out...or else you'll just be spinning your wheels.

It's like Vasquez Rocks in LA county, unless you've been there, you can't properly "visualize" your possible shots.  Check the sight lines, sunlight angles, logistics.....

Take a Sunday drive!

I live in Apple Valley CA about hour from river side my advise is this
In the recent months I have noticed a lot of places all over So-Cal getting brand new signs of no trespassing ect.
I just got a ticket for trespassing I fought it and won but however they are cracking down on this stuff.
There are a lot of places to shoot however make sure not to climb fences, look for signes and stay out of farming areas and if nudity is in the idea be even more carefull because the cops out here cant seem to see a difference between an artistic shoot far from childrens eyes
and you walking down the street streaking
A close friend of mine had to fight to keep her name off Magens Law list because she got a tiket for public exposure and lude conduct all she was doing was posing topless about 100 feet from the side of the road and was bloked from cars seeing her but the cop asked what they were doing and she told him
Just follow the rules as best you can these California Robo Cops will get you

I'm sure Kesler would love to go for a Sunday drive if he knew where he was going....I think all he is asking for is where should he look.  Last time I looked, Riverside County is a little big.  He's just asking for some direction from experience.  It's like your tip about Vasquez Rocks, now I know what to look for in that area!  smile

Yea, pretty much!  Just wanted to know where to scout for locations being that I'm unfamiliar.  Model and myself are daring and don't mind driving around for cool places to shoot! smile

Speaking of Vasquez rocks, I was there yesterday smile

Did a cool quick shoot and took lots of pictures to survey the area and local spots to prepare for future visits smile

I live in Riverside...have shot some commercial stuff around town, and several years ago in the Mission Inn, which now asks exhorbitant location fees.
But, some nice old buildings and alleys.

There's Mt. Rubidoux (popular with walkers, runners, etc.) but has some areas for privacy.

Mission Inn: http://www.missioninn.com/

Did this for the Symphony a few years ago at the back lot of a building. No permit.

Riverside has some nice older historic buildings.  Hollywood has shot here many times, but because of them, places like Mission Inn have been spoiled by the fees.

Welcome to my neck of the woods Kesler. I shoot LA and OC as there are no beaches her in IE. We should shoot at some hills with big rocks. That would be a bitch carrying the vagabonds up there.

Yea, I'm trying to get from the beach.  Trying to limit my beach shoots only to publication submissions.

grass is going to be tough to find this time of year, but if you drive out newport rd past canyon lake between the 15 and 215, there are places that grow grass!

murrieta has some cool backroads too. any of the tweener roads (between the two fwys) are good places to start.

Stop at http://www.lookoutroadhouse.com/ and get a really big plate full of hot apple pie with icecream and a frosty mug of soda pop. It is on the east side at the top and over looks the lake with a awesome view.

I have a client that just opened up a building on Palymrita Ave in Riverside.  Nice foothills (mountains?) as a backdrop.

I think you could get some nice pics there, however, me being from Canada I wouldn't dare go up those hills.  They are supposed to have scorpions out there (Riverside, SoCal?) , not something I am used to watching out for!!

Grassy Fields??.. in Southern California? Tell me where! lol

Actually Lake Elsinore is pretty nice. I take flying lessons in a Gazelle Helicopter and fly over there quite often. The scenery is beautiful!

well, I live up in San Berdoo, if yer looking for nice outdoors areas maybe try prospect park in Redlands, flowers, trees ( even orange groves to wander around in ) around the small ampitheatre are some smaller grassy areas bordered by trees and a small short stone wall, has a slight slope to it but easily workable. place is usually empty as it's a walking/dog park like thing, so no families to deal with having picnics, opens at 5am , free no gates, etc

Lots of great places mentioned here, I'm going to have to go scouting around. I recently shot at The Antique Gas And Steam Engine Museum in Vista on recommendation from the model, and it's great. Not too far from Riverside, maybe an hour 20 mins smile Good luck and let us know what else you find!

There's a state park in Chino off of the 71 & Soquel Canyon...

Caveat: there's wildlife out there...

Vasquez Rock need a permit, or you get a ticket.

In Temecula there are a bunch of wineries out east of town.  I have shot for a few wineries (Commerical)  and I am sure if you ask they will allow you to shoot on the grounds.  You can always buy some wine then ask.........

First check out pics of my house in Riverside. I have been renting it out for location shoots. Second, if you are looking for wineries, you want to go to Temecula. Anything else,  send me a pm.
