Metallic (esp. silver) body-paint?
No doubt the question has been asked and answered in the past, but I've never paid attention to the subject, so bear with me as I ask anew: What metallic (particularly silver) body-painting materials are available out there that are effective and safe for use on skin? Any guidance much appreciated. Thanks. Nov 30 08 12:07 pm Link I use the body paint collections from BEN Nye's or Mehron, they're all for body painting and I got the consistency and concept I was going for. They're not expensive, but finding them takes a little work. Try costume stores, or online. Hope that helps. Nov 30 08 01:00 pm Link Mehron's silver with mixing liquid works well, but if you want clean results and to keep silver off your photo gear you might consider hiring your favorite Nor-Cal body paint artist. Dec 01 08 08:27 pm Link Kryolan Creme Pump. I used it in my profile pic - it's a matte black so I used Temptu's Gunmetal on over for definition and reflection. 1 tube is all you'll need! Dec 01 08 08:38 pm Link I have just shot a silver Metallic Body Paint with my own product. I did alot of research and the product is safe. Take a look at the results on my profile. Thanks Stephen ;-) Dec 08 10 03:36 am Link This thread may be of some help as well: https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=28857 Dec 09 10 04:42 am Link This photo was done with Mehron and mixer. Like mentioned above, stay a million miles away from it with your gear because it tends to get messy. And after an hour or so my model complained that she was starting to feel weird because her skin couldn't breath. Dec 09 10 07:23 am Link I'm curious, too, having never done a full-metallic, about the mess. I'd have thought that Mehron's Mixing Liquid + metallic powder would be more stable when dry; that being the reason to use the mixing liquid. Sounds as if one might as well go with aloe or sesame oil or any other mixer rather than the expensive one. Especially since I'm the one to deal with the mess, not the photographer. Are the mixing liquids getting a brighter or more metallic shine than other foundations for the metallic powders? Is it more a matter of elbow/knee/etc. joints not rubbing themselves thin through movement that makes a mixing liquid a better choice? Heres one with pigment and oil. https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/16404378 Dec 09 10 12:46 pm Link I did this with the Mehron silver. Powder only on moisturized skin with a kabuki brush. A small bottle did a body & 1/2 and I have at least a quarter left. Do this out side the shooting area/gear. Cover what you can in sheets or whatever you will have a blanket of silver on EVERYTHING if you do it this way. Worked well but.. If I could only stop with camera gear and get an airbrush..
