place a "www." in front of it, and a ".com" behind it, and you'll find out.

zivity is a site where models and photographers may post a photo set and people may view the photos and vote on them... and votes somehow turn into pay for the pictures.. im not sure entirely how it works.. but thats MY summed up version.

if someone would like to be helpful and fill in what i forgot myself and im sure the OP will appreciate it

A subscriber pays $10/mo, and gets 5 votes. Each vote is worth 80 cents, which is split between the model and the photographer.

A: It's a way for someone with a server to make money from others' vanity and gullibility.

B: It's somewhere that, potentially, pays you to be in the clique.

or

C: It's a combination of A+B

If you're a photographer and you shoot a LOT and produce photos that are just sitting around your hard drives but would probably be ok for pinup type sites (whether SG with the obvious eventual nude bent or otherwise), then it can be a way to potentially make a little money off them. The profit sharing for "popular" photosets breaks down around 55% to the model, 30% to the photographer and 15% to the site. Now with each vote being worth a dollar, and they don't start cutting you checks until your account passes I think a $60 balance... for a photographer that means you need to get at least 200 votes for your sets, and for a model its about 110 votes. Also the model in the pictures has to be a member also and that's the big problem a lot of photographers have, finding models who'll not just potentially pose in nude pictures, but will do it for an online pay site full of obviously horny male fans.

I've got lots of models who'll pose for fetish photos, nudes, etc, sometimes for TFP sometimes they want paid, but when you mention Zivity to them, if they already know of it or you explain it to them, even as "think Suicide Girls Lite" they're usually "NOPE not for me".

One of the top photographers on the site, Bold Daniel is local to me and has shot several of the same models as I have, and in I think 1 1/2 years his sets have collectively earned just over...hang on I'll just double-check....ok 12, 165 votes from 255 sets of photos and probably around fifty or more different models. Twenty sets have made the "editorial" pics list, and he has nearly 500 fans. Anyway 12k votes breaks down to his earning about $3600 in all that time, for what has to be thousands of hours of work. He's ranked 7th on the site for photographers. For models though... the popular ones... well the top three right now for the last 30 days have 1200+, 1000+, and 700+ votes respectively. At 55 cents a vote, that's pretty good money. But several model friends of mine who put up several sets, have either never seen a check, or saw one small one and that was it, because they just didn't get enough votes.

any member (such as myself) can extend you a 30-day no obligation free trial so you can see for yourself.

i think of it like a virtual strip club. models grab a photographer (or shoot themselves) and do sets which are voted on. when fans vote they are basically buying attention from the model (similar to putting a one in their panties).

some sets get almost no votes whereas others can get hundreds. the top people are making a few hundred each month. so far i've made $350 total.

pros:
* you can post an entire set, not just a couple images
* you get some attention from models smile
* you have access to different models than mayhem

cons
* the girls can be surprisingly mean to each other
* feels like SG-lite sometimes
* excellent work can go unnoticed

why do people keep bumping old threads? how do they even find them. maybe mayhem should auto-lock a thread after a certain amount of time.

So it is an old thread, maybe someone who has used Zivity has something positive or negative to add. Thanks to those who have explained it. I just found it and had no idea what it is. Now i do. Looks like it is just another way to collect monthly fees. I would like to hear from people on the sight if it makes money for photographers.

i've made a few hundred. some guys make a few thousand. some guys don't make anything. really it depends on your ability to snag a model (or introduce a model) who resonates with the fans. some sets get almost no votes, others get hundreds.

i think it's more something to do for fun and bragging rights and to be part of the community than to make a lot of money. what i tell people is that they shouldn't expect anything and then if they do make money it's a bonus.

Hello, you mentioned that the model has to be a member of the site. . . does that mean it is impossible for a photographer to add photos to Zivity without the model's knowledge and consent?

correct. model must approve the set before it can be published.

lots of SG girls on zivity.

i don't know how SG works but with zivity a photographer and model work together on a set (typically 20-30 images) and if that set gets approved (i think most do) then it is published (with the model's approval). any zivity member (whether it's model, photographer or paying fan) can purchase votes and vote on sets. the votes turn into real money each quarter. i've made about $300 through the efforts of my models (it's really on them to work the voters). it has been hit or miss for me. i've had some sets with zero votes and others with several hundred. a lot depends on the popularity of the model.

models can also do self-shot sets.

any member can extend you a 30-day free trial.
