Legal issues while working with minors?
can someone give me a few tips about what should be kept in mind while working with someone below 18? The model release can be signed by the parents but anything else I should be aware of? I can name 2 or 3 that are here that are phenomenal! When I set up a shoot with them, they always come ready and prepared, and the thought of any problem isn;t even in the back of my mind. Jun 04 06 02:13 pm Link I just found out this weekend that here, in British Columbia-Canada, a model (or anyone for that matter) cannot sign contracts on their own until they are 19...NOT 18. And here I've been going around with the belief that 18 was legal. The weird thing also is that up to age 18 any images (deemed to be sexual [VERY SUBJECTIVE] in nature...this includes suggestive but clothed photos) can be prosecuted as Child Porn. At 18 and beyond the person can be photographed in the Nude. **However**, given that they can't sign their own contracts until 19 this means they still need the parents/guardian signature for that year between 18 & 19. Okay...the facts as I know them... (14) Age of sexual consent (16) Age of Driver's License (18) Age of Military Service at which time they can (legally sanctioned by Gov't) KILL someone (19) Legal Drinking Age (and sign their own contracts) (21) Age to Vote in Federal and Provincial Elections. Something seems screwy here... Jun 04 06 03:12 pm Link . Jul 28 06 10:24 pm Link TrueBeauty wrote: wow...that's F-ed up!
