UPDATE: I've created a gallery for easy viewing of the submitted photos so far. I will add new photos as they are posted up until 12:00AM EST July 1st.

Gallery:
http://www.johnjebbia.com/cliche/

Keywords to find this thread later: Cliche Photo Contest

DO NOT POST ANYTHING TO THIS THREAD OTHER THAN YOUR FINISHED IMAGES AND/OR COMMENTS ON ALREADY POSTED IMAGES.
(you may post a brief description: ie model info or any notes you want on the same post your image resides)

Use this thread to discuss the contest itself:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/posts.php?thread_id=51224

Theme
The best use of multiple cliche's in a single image. There are no rules on what a cliche is. That's for the Judges to decide.

Be creative. Be silly. Have fun.

Models, Photographers, Stylists, and MUA's may collaborate if they want.
(We'll see if we can get Tyler to reward the winning team with blue ribbons on their portfolio or something.)

Due Date - July 1st - Post your image anytime before Midnight EST on July 1st. Only one image per contestant will be judged.

All photos must be posted to this thread by July 1st. Judging will be done on July 5th. Feel free to comment on posted photos before the judges make their decision.

If your image contains nudity, please do not post it directly. Link it instead. Also, please post a nudity warning on all links to 18+ images.

How to post photos and make links:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/posts.php?thread_id=14609

First Prize - Officially nothing. Unless Tyler wants to give out some e-prizes.

III (MM#13627) has graciously offered up a first prize to the winning photographer:

Well, I won't be participating, but I will support in one way: I will donate a prize.

The winner will get a book that I was given but never read.  It's not what I am interested in shooting, so I am quite happy to give it away; but someone may find it useful (the book has glamour b&w).  Regardless, it's a gift, I'll pay shipping.

"Black & White Model Photography - Techniques and Images" by Bill Lemon.

Experimental Photoworks (MM#86286) has generously offered this prize to the model in the winning photo:

I'll be happy to have Experimental Craftworks donate a custom pair of earrings to the winning model, Model gets to choose the color & style.

www.experimentalcraftworks.com

However, keep in mind that officially there is no prize.

The Judges - The judges will collaborate to pick a single winner and runner's up.

Here is my entry. We shot it especially for this contest.

https://www.gregorygarecki.com/pix/poopsquat.jpg

I would like to point to the honorable panel of judges the following fabulous features of my work:

- poopsquat pose
- bad attitude face
- windblown hair
- nice, bright, cloudy, and very professional background

- for extra credit I also threw in hyper-extended elbows even though it's an error rather than a cliché.

I'm sorry that my lighting is good. I just don't know how to light badly. Also on behalf of the model I appologize for her almost pulling off the look. She just couldn't help herself.

I think this is pretty cliche. You have a trashcan with several pairs of legs in it. A outlined body on the pavement. A model throwing matches. Chip Willis playing a imposter/bum on the far right. It cant be THAT outdated, now can it? smile

Here's my entry (it's 18+ so it's link only):

https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pic … a666bb6060

Let's see we have:

1) Bondage (Hmmmm....)
2) Train Tracks (I think you see where this might be headed)
3) Overacting (I asked them to)

Models are Jetta (MM 114124) on the left and Layla Mercedes (MM 89385) on the right.  Layla picked out the location, by the way.  Nice fact about this location is that there was a train parked about 300 yards down the rails (that looked like it had been parked for the better part of a year...) so we knew it was safe.

That's impressive. Although I think the color flower and caution tape you have beem a more effectively trite use of selective color.

Shot just for the cliche contest. Unlike some other contestants, I have enough self confidence and trust in our highly esteemed judges so I won't explain each cliche and nuance.*

To non-judges and non-MM members: Flowers, glam pose, latex, and _wronkled_ sheets are typical cliches, although the juxtaposition of genres is not.

Maybe not cliche, not sure, but the napalm sign had us thinking a little while lifting the lid on the tub in a foreign country.

It is a booty shot (enhanced) smile
I overused photoshop.

I tried to make it a (implied) nude glamour, Typical pose

Title: Being Beautiful is Easy Work

https://img2.modelmayhem.com/051116/07/437b8b2e174cf.jpg

I'm submitting this one for our group.  I love it and think it fills the model cliche, that professional modeling is easy.  When it fact it's hard to be beautiful all dang day.

On a post production theme:

1. sepia/b&w conversion
2. selective coloring
3. overly smoothed skin
4. overly sharpened detail areas
5. underaged model looking adult (she's 14 y.o.)
