If you have been promised paid work or not been paid for example, he may be be able to recover funds /sign up fees on your behalf. If the Agency you are complaining about is located in Pennsylvania; Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General 16th Floor, Strawberry Square Harrisburg, PA 17120 Make sure you put the name of the individual and agency you are complaining about at the top of the letter. Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay them to sign you, put you on their website, print comp cards, get photos for your portfolio, and take their modeling classes? How much of those expenses did you actually earn back with modeling jobs obtained thru them? Mar 20 10 10:25 am Link Note that this is a "middle-aged" thread. Jul 29 10 05:14 pm Link KarolinaVon wrote: *hugs Jul 29 10 06:56 pm Link most of the people wilhelmina sees are those without any real headshots or professional photos. they do ask you to take professional photos because more often than not most people coming in are beginners and have absolutely nothing to show a client that would book them a legitimate job. In this industry you really do need good comp cards and headshots, sometimes it really is all about the image. in some cases they ask them to take workshops, i've been to the workshops- all the people taking them are newbies and do not know how to pose in front of the camera, or if they're with the talent division they have very little in front of the camera skill so to speak. the classes are a nessasary for most of these people or they wouldn't ever be taken seriously. this is coming from someone with a BA in performing arts who has is wary about scams. it's really not as much of a scam as you think. Wilhelmina is also currently opening their offices. So most of this is new but they really do just want to market you in the best way possible. it's a little hard to do when you don't know enough about the industry. also actors spend hundreds and thousands of dollars going to workshops and taking classes to improve themselves, and constantly getting new headshots, their prices really aren't that bad. their photoshoots are standard price for well done headshots and portfolio shots and so are their workshop prices. i actually have met people who were charged more. it's actually nice to have a guide to a good photography. and the photographs are very well done. You do not pay to "sign" with them as many people are saying, you pay for your photoshoot and a workshop. (which is not a bad idea, esp. for beginners). i am satisfied. even if i did pay for workshops and photos. that's what you do anyway. it's all part of the industry. people who don't sign with wilhelmina get headshots taken (at least $600 for a good photographer and good headshots-standard NYC prices) and classes which vary ;-) you can check out my photos if you're interested in the quality. sidenote- i do not mean to be sassy at all just get the other side of the argument out there. Aug 02 10 12:58 pm Link also you can check on wilhelmina's website (NYC, CA, etc) Wilhelmina is not a main branch but they ARE an affiliate and if you call the NYC office they will tell you the same thing.
