It seems to be the same Wilhelmina in NYC and Miami...just a PA branch.

I wouldn't bother. I hear they take anyone and have people come in for these big open calls where they are being given some speech about how they're going to be stars if they just invest in a portfolio with the agency's photographer, bla bla bla. I think there was a thread about them here recently, or maybe I'm getting confused.

They emailed me to come in on Saturday- it's a drive and a half do I didn't want to bother..they actually go in touch with me about acting...cause some of us aren't thin fashion models (ahem).

Thanks for the tip sweetheart- hope we can get together again soon smile

Yep... it is... by name anyways.  It is another agency that gave W. money to use the name.

Yes, I would love that! As for the agency, are they SAG/AFTRA franchised? Otherwise the only "acting" work they will provide is probably background and maybe some low paid non-union crap.

Try Heyman; they've gotten me some great SAG auditions lately.

This is true, but I would be driving out with my husband...actually he would be driving his car because mine is leased and I have to watch my mileage.

You can't possibly have fucked up more than I did when I faxed them my contract.
big_smile

I'm sure you'll be fine! And stay away from Wilhelmina PA. I'm with Greer Lange in
Philly and they're pretty good, I would be even busier with them if I lived a little closer (at least in NJ) and had a car.

Talk to you soon! xoxoxox

There have been several threads about this agency over the last few months. Search here https://www.sendu.me.uk/modelmayhem/ and you will not want to work with them.

Yeah, it's not a branch of the NYC/LA Wilhelmina, it's another agency that has licensed use of the name...they don't share model boards or anything.  Don't apply the standing and reputation of one to the other - for all intents and purposes they're unrelated agencies.

just google kelli harman and harman agency pa and you'll find all you need to know to save those precious miles/seconds/hours/days of your life.

The Wilhelmina brand has always put a bad taste in my mouth.  I don't know which Wilhelmina is legit because they sold their name in so many directions.

And it's a damn shame as Wilhelmina was at the top of the game of agencies before she died.

Wilhelmina Cooper is probably rolling in her grave after how her name has been used.

Personally, I don't believe in the Wilhelmina name.

If they would give me power over that agency, I would change everything and forbid the Wilhelmina name to be used other than a legitimate agency.

I could be a CEO of that agency anyday...at least I think.

Wilhemina in New York isn't actually THAT prestigious (only to models) nor profitable so they are pleasing their shareholders (people with ACTUAL money and profitable ambitions) by licensing their name out to other modeling agencies

Wilhemina reverse merged with some crappy penny stock on the over-the-counter stock market and now its clearly obvious how poor their business plan is since they have to update the Federal Government

Taken from their crappy filings to the SEC

Strategy

Management’s strategy is to increase value to shareholders through the following initiatives:

·
expanding the women’s high end fashion board;

·
continuing to invest in the WAM business;

·
strategic acquisitions;

·
licensing the “Wilhelmina” name to leading, local model management agencies;

·
exploring the use of the “Wilhelmina” brand in connection with consumer products, cosmetics and other beauty products; and

·
partnering on television shows and promoting model search contests.

well, you could be majority shareholder for like $10,000  which is like the owner

Think about how many women will suck your cock on a whim if you told them that.... its a lot, casting couches are cheap

A friend went in to Wilhelmina many years ago-
They asked her to drop some weight and get a better portfolio
She lost the extra weight and grabbed a photographer she felt she could accomplish better photos with her name is Allie Crandell

Basically.  I signed with the Harman agency right before she bought the rights to use the Wilhelmina name last year.  I've gotten a few go-sees, but nothing serious.

Completely legit, im signed with them.
However, i will say Im not pleased with them. I've gotten no work, I feel like I was just someone to make money off of and then throw in a drawer somewhere...

Doesn't Wilhelmina franchise to anyone willing to pay the franchise fee?  There have been numerous threads about Wilhelmina in PA..  just can't put my finger on them.
From what I understand, its pretty much scam-ish, more like JRP, and Barbizon than the Wilhelmina of old.

That's exactly what you were to them and that's why you shouldn't be so quick to claim they're legit.

Any agency for whom a non-working model is profitable isn't really an agency, they're a portfolio mill.

Whether or not it's legit, it's not worth packing up and relocating.
