Novatron Lighting....
I'm not sure what/how this fits in....but tonight I was in a pawn shop and they had a 3 head battery pack strobe kit (complete with 3 heads, a hard novatron case, cables, battery pack, some umbrellas....no stands that I saw...) for 250.... Is that a good deal? Or........I dunno... Jun 30 06 10:07 pm Link sounds like a deal to me...i got the same package with stands (used) at a photo store for $500! Jun 30 06 10:12 pm Link I would buy them, assuimg what you say is correct. Usually one head cost that much. Check my port, I usually use only a novatron kit unless I am travelling and away from my kit. Just my opinion, Mark Jun 30 06 10:12 pm Link It can be if everything works! But remember you will still have to buy stands. New lighting kits are not that expensive today. Good Luck! Jun 30 06 10:15 pm Link Oh I can't afford them....I'm actually piss broke at the moment...and haven't puchased groceries in awhile..(white rice is good...) I just stumbled across them and wondered... Jun 30 06 10:15 pm Link I have had a novatron power pack with heads for 21 years. and I shoot 100,000+ images per year. It has out last my Norman 2000, and my Balcar. Just keeps working. Forget all the big guys hipe. I only use that and white lightning now. Billy Jun 30 06 10:23 pm Link Iâd say this all depends on what model the power supply (or battery pack) is. For most of these kits, the power supply is where most of the cost and value is. Bottom of the line is the model V240D (fun kit). Model V400D & V600D are 400ws and 600ws respectfully. I donât think Novatron makes a batter powered kit. If it looked like this kit, and was at least the V400D, and it worked, it could have been a good starter set, but I would offer them less then the $250 sticker price. More like $200 out the door. http://www.adorama.com/NT60V4002C.html Jun 30 06 10:36 pm Link problem with the Novatrons - if a tube dies, you need to send it back to Novatron. At least that was last time I looked Beebe Jul 01 06 01:15 am Link the new set is only $700. I just saw it at the store i go to. $250. is good, depending on how much you shoot. You'd hate (i'm sure) to be in the middle of a shoot at the lights die. I've been up that road, not a good look. Jul 01 06 01:22 am Link nineandnineteen wrote: What wattage? Were the heads standard or Reducing. Were the the new style with the extra pin or the very old ones just the simcircle pin config? Jul 01 06 01:40 am Link It doesn't matter what pack it is, what heads are included, or even if the pack works. That's a good deal. If it were closer to me I'd drive there today an buy it without asking a single question. I have 3 Novatron packs, including one that is at least 30 years old. They work every time and on the rare occasions when something breaks they aren't that expensive to get repaired. One of those heads is worth what they are asking for the whole kit. Jul 01 06 01:07 pm Link More information is needed to be able to tell you if it's agood deal. The older Novatron packs had a blue insert where you plug in the heads - so you can tell right away if it's an older pack. Novatron makes several packs and heads. One thing you MUST remember is that you MUST have at least one head at full power or you will fry the pack. Also, never connect or disconnect the heads when the pack is on. Tell me exactly what you will be getting (models, etc.) and I can tell you how to test them and if they would be a good buy. I have 3 Novatron packs, 7 heads, 2 300M monolights, and 2 of their hotlights. They have authorized me to repair packs because I have the equipment to do so. Jul 01 06 04:49 pm Link Hmm...again...I'm NOT NOT NOT purchasing them...I can't. I'm 100% broke...I can't even afford food right now let alone a strobe kit... I was simply wondering if it was a good deal or if this pawn shop was completely hosing people... Jul 01 06 06:13 pm Link |
