I am looking for AMAZING brushes.  I have a good brush set now but, I want a better one for more high end clients.  Can someone please suggest some good brands, I have been looking at crown brushes the Italian Badger series but I don't know how good those are.  Then I was looking at these very VERY expensive Japanese (hakuhodo) brushes that are made from squirrel, and goat but I am not sure.  Please I am looking for all the advice I can get !!!

thanks

The FAQ's have some good brush suggesstions, but the softest brushes I have ever felt are by The Ultimate Face. Waaay softer than Crown brushes I love them!! I probably haven't felt as many brushes as most of the MUAs here though.

Great "cheap" brushes - Eco tools and E.l.f.

I am also a fan of some of Crown brushes - specifically the italian badger series, which you mentioned. I really am a fan of these brushes. The face brushes aren't as soft as they could be, but they do the job and they're legit.

I love my MAC brushes, I have some that I've had for years and are still standing strong.

I'm also a fan of Laura Mercier brushes as well as Smashbox.

I think "amazing" depends on the person using them. Some are less picky than others.

yes I was at the make-up show too in NY and felt them !! They are really nice and I am thinking of buying like 14 of them but it comes out to be over 300 so I am not sure if I should spend money on them or the Crown and if crown says how good they are and the hairs are NOT synthetic then why such a big price difference ?

actually 300.00 for 14 PRO brushes is not a bad deal at all.  If you bought them individually at that quality from other brands it would be WAY WAY more expensive.

Japonesque, ADesign and more are fabulous brushes.  Chanel and Lancome both make excellent PRO quality brushes.

To find some amazing brushes http://www.camerareadycosmetics.com/products.php?cat=59 Mary's store I have all of the Japonesque and ADesign, as well as a few taklon & nylon Chanel and Lancome Pro foundation brushes I've purchased over the years.

Don't go too cheap - you can truly tell the difference in applicaiton, client feel and longevity.

bobbi brown has some amazing brushes as well as of course MAC. crown brushes are okay i wasnt too impressed with them but for the price they are excellent ! just have to really go and touch then to see which ones are best . trish mcvoy also has nice brushes .

try not to be too cheap with your brushes . they are going to make your work more polished and if you buy the right ones and take care of them they will last u years !

& if theres a 30 dollar
24 piece brush set

most likley they will shed and not last you too long .

so invest & good luck

Hakuhodo sure makes great luxurious brushes!  I have a wide range of brushes I have collected over the years, MAC, Mercier, Armani, YSL, Chanel, Dior, Chantecaille, Crown, A Design, drugstore's brushes...But my set of Shu Uemura brushes is my all time favourite!  Now if only I can get a second set of Shu Uemura brushes I would be in heaven! LOL

depends on what you call super expensive i guess. we all know that no matter what, you get what you pay for. Crown brushes seem to be very nice quality for their price point. I would imagine you might have to replace them a bit more often-but you may not mind it so much bc they are so inexpensive and depending on how much you use them and how you care for them , they might last you a long time. the hakuhodo brushes were super soft and very precise looking. yes, they have a much higher $$$tag on them, but if you are looking for even better application for higher end clients, is it worth the money?

I have to admit, as much of a 'brush whore' I am and as many expensive brushes I own, I don't think that having a 50-60 dollar blush brush is necessarily going to mean a flawless application.

I think most of it is in the technique of the person holding the brush, not necessarily the brush itself. Just my opinion.

i can halfway agree....it def has to do with the brushes used as well as the talent holding them. im not saying its totally necc to have a $60 blush brush, but you arent going to get the same performance and last out of a $4 drugstore one.
i dont own super expensive brushes, but i have owned cheap and then not so cheap ones. there is a difference. lets keep in mind some brushes "claim" to be better quality and have a big fat price tag attached to them bc of their name...and then there are brushes that are a total steal for quality AND price.
I guess the only way to know is for someone to chime in who has actually USED both and has seen a difference. there was a thread on the makeup show NY...i believe someone in there mentioned they had noticed a difference from other brushes they had used.

Apart from the mainstream ones, I think Louise Young brushes are brilliant and my dream brushes are Suqqu, although they are faint inducing expensive.

i bought a set of them and they have lasted for a while...they start to get really rough though...and the hairs fell straight out of a few of the brushes...however $60 for a set....and they lasted a year-ish. not too bad.

+1 ♥

I do think artifex is right it's more about the technique but I can't stand crappy brushes. lol I'm a bit obsessed with my brushes.

I have mostly MAC brushes. My obsession with them started WAY before I even fathomed being a MUA so of course the obsession carried over. :-P

Outside of MAC brushes a few of my must haves are

The small Sonia Kashuk eyeshadow brush. I also have some of her other brushes. I like most but not all of them.

MUFE kabuki brush. ♥♥♥

Laura Mercier angled eyeshadow brush.

I want to try sigma brushes since I hear they are so awesome. I figure for 70 buck if at least two of them are decent it wouldn't be a total waste.

Wow, I just went on Strawberrynet.com to look at the prices for the Shu Uemura brushes.
http://au.strawberrynet.com/makeup/shu-uemura/
Those prices are crazy $330 for 1 brush?? Are the brushes that fabulous?

Do you know of any other websites where I can find Shu Uemura brushes.

I love my MAC brushes. I personally haven't used Crown but the school I go to, stopped offering them to us because way too many of the bristles would fall out and the students weren't happy with them. But, I don't think they were the Italian badger series.
