A friend of mine wants to get a compressor/airbrush to use for bodypainting. We were looking at these:

Compressors

Iwata Smart Jet
http://shop.temptupro.com/p-452-smart-j … ology.aspx
$285

Airbrushes

Eclipse HP-BCS Bottle Feed
http://shop.temptupro.com/p-70-eclipse- … -feed.aspx
$115

OR

Revolution BCR
http://shop.temptupro.com/p-38-revolution-bcr.aspx
$95

Can anyone please give their opinion on these products and if they would be sufficient and suitable for both full body coverage, and fine detail too. If you can also recommend some good affordable paints that would be great.

Thank you in advance!!!

I like the Eclipse.
The smart jet is okay for occasional use for bodypaint work, or smaller jobs...but not enough for the serious BP artist.

Thanks! This would most likely be a weekend thing, but he wanted to start doing parties and events.

Do you think the Iwata Power Jet Lite is a better choice? He's on a budget and just starting out so I think "good enough" might be ok at this point.

Thanks!

I've been happy with my power jet pro...I would recommend a silent compressor with at least a bit of a tank...many advantages. How about the standard Power Jet?

Scroll down to the TC-196. You won't find a better putter compressor, at a better price. And if you do, please let me know about it.

Over twice as powerful as the Smart Jet, and much cheaper. But really, the thing that makes it better besides, nearly double the horsepower, and the high air volume (CFM), is the fact that it has a tank. Those putter compressors without tanks are practically useless for the demand that is put on a full bodypainting. Especially when it comes to up close freehand work. you will deal with a lot of clogging if you use the smart jet.

The main thing that turns people away from this compressor, is that it is not a name brand.

But, I have had this compressor as my travel compressor for over a year now. I put it through a lot of abuse (and I'm talking about sometimes 12 hours of straight painting). And it takes the beating well.

JUST KEEP A FAN ON IT FOR ANYTHING AIRBRUSHED OVER 30 mins.

In fact, i prefer it to my silent compressor, except of course because of the noise (which is bearable, especially in an open space.)

It generates more than enough psi for my .3mm airbrushes, and just enough pressure for my .5mm airbrushes.

That DOES look pretty good...and the price is fantastic. I may need to get me one of those for a back-up.

Thanks guys! I think he's going with the TC 196 and Eclipse to start.
