They're done over and over. The same ideas are repeated in photographs by many photographers and models. Some people think they're being creative if they can duplicate ideas that have already been done ad nauseum!

Here's my list of cliché photos - themes that I try to avoid. What ideas do you consider to be a cliché?

UPDATED LIST
Standing next to a tree
On knees spread apart at the beach
Straddling a motorcycle
Yellow "Caution" tape wrapped around a body
The "American Beauty" shot - a nude covered with rose petals
Sitting on a fake Greek column
Wearing a hard hat, tool belt, and brief clothing
Angel wings
Railroad Tracks
On the hood of a car
Lingerie w/ trenchcoat
Finger in mouth
Swimsuits & high heels
Canned photo effects
Hands on boobs
Spot color
In bathtub with candles
Tugging on panties
Photographer w/ camera: self-portrait in mirror
Implied nude, wrapped in American Flag
Bikinis and guns
Semi-nude with man's shirt and necktie
Wearing a cowboy hat
Wearing a "Euro" hat - sideways
Ladder shots
Wearing boxing gloves
The cat crawl
Wearing a Santa hat at Christmastime
Graveyard Goth
Background cloth that droops in the middle
Tilted camera shots

Here's another thread on cliche photos.  The weird thing about cliches is that they are cliches because they work...

I think you can use the cliche' but its all a mater of whether you put a spin to it. Thats where it differs, for some one it might be a creative idea for them to use such items, I like the idea of caution tape, but only if its to creat an actual outfit, I mean if you look at it really fishnet stocking, and garter belts can be considered cliche, any type of nude for the most part might be sondiered a cliche, every one intrpits things differently:)

Who cares?

Why not take a "cliche" idea, and make it new?

Why limit yourself by saying "I'm not going to photograph someone standing next to a tree because that's cliche" but instead say "How can I photograph someone standing next to a tree and make it original?"

You do what you gotta do--as long as you abide by Ohio state laws, I don't mind.

There are several objects that i refuse to feature in my images...mostly because they give a feeling of "premediation" to the scene I'm trying to discuss.  Among them:

-wine glasses [full or empty]

-musical instruments [unless i get to keep them after the shoot]

-cars or motorcylces [see above condition]

-fake blood [if a model wants me to shoot them in blood, the least she can do is donate it herself.]

-swords/knives/guns [there's nothing "sexy" about instuments of death imo]

-cameras [there's nothing sillier than taking a picture of a model taking a picture...especially a nude/lingere/bikini model...sheesh].

-bikinis/swimsuits/lingere with shoes...can you say "Burt Parks"?  I thought you could.

Generally, when a model asks me what to bring to a shoot, my reply is "nothing."

So is color...

I'd like to see a photo of light outside of the visible spectrum.  That would be original...the first time.

Isn't infrared photography more-or-less light outside the visible spectrum? Of course, that's cliche too.....

It's riding the line.

The photo is not printed outside the visible spectrum, but in b&w.

It's cliché for sure.

Here's a question:  at what point do things lose cliche status?  For instance, it's less trite to make Daguerreotypes than C-41.

Wearing...brief clothing

Is this clothing that doesn't last long?  Like stuff they sell at Target?
