BEAUTY PHOTOGRAPHY: CAPTURE-LIGHTING-POST They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But what if you could spontaneously create beauty and achieve consistent results via makeup, lighting, capture, and post-processing? In LUCIMA's Beauty Photography: Capture-Lighting-Post, photographers will explore the different elements of producing such beauty shoots from prep-to-post. Prep -Choosing the right model -Skin considerations -Facial structure/definition -Range facial expressions Makeup -Preparing the skin -Base, contouring, highlights -Understanding the face (right face for right concept) -Natural vs. Fashion vs. Avant-garde beauty -Hair (framing the face) -Hands/nails Lighting -Lighting schematics -Main light considerations (working distance, power, angles) -Light modifier considerations -Camera settings -Reflectors/Rim lights/Kickers/Hair lights/BG lights Capture -Model-photographer interaction -Motion/Emotion/Mood/Feeling -Flow -Posing (and framing) -Props (light/shadow) Post-Processing -Cleanup -Spatial frequency separation -Enhancing -Skin treatment Photographers will work with professional models from top Los Angeles modeling agencies. The workshop will also feature a segment presented by makeup guru Kathleen Ty, covering the fundamentals every photographer should know about beauty makeup. Throughout the workshop photographers will shoot models wearing fashion makeup and avant-garde makeup. For the post-processing segment of the workshop, I will select and retouch an actual image from the workshop. By enhancing your ability to shoot beauty you will open the doors to shooting beauty/product campaigns, beauty editorials, headshots, and for modeling agencies. Here's a beauty retouch tutorial video I will present in greater detail during the workshop: http://vimeo.com/21431366 General notes: -This is a Photoshop intensive class but you'll still shoot 2-3 hours in the day! -Since good models are paramount to getting "the shot" you'll be working with experienced agency-represented models. -Photographers will be learning/shooting on-the-fly. I leverage constant dialogue and "time-behind-the-camera" for photographers to gain hands-on experience while learning conceptual techniques/knowledge. -The workshop is capped at 9 photographers for more one-on-one learning. -One-on-one time with models is also critical to the learning process. At the workshop you'll have plenty of time to work with models. There will be at most 3 photographers per model. Photographers should bring: -Camera/assorted lenses -Lightmeter -Media cards -Something to take notes with Fee: $429. Register before May 28th for 10% discount! Location LUCIMA STUDIO 2620 Concord Ave. STE 120 Alhambra, CA 91803 Date/Time Saturday, June 11th, 2011, 9AM-5PM Here are my last 3 workshops! January, February, and April Q/A: Q: How will this differ from the other workshops in the past? A: I've always glossed over skin-retouching because it's too detailed for the other workshops. This time we're going full-bore into skin and details. I'll be covering the spatial frequency/bandpass processing action in detail so everyone can follow along (starting from importing the action into your Photoshop). More importantly I'll teach you how to think through that script so you're not in the dark about how to use it effectively. Of course we'll still look at all the other steps like desaturation, dodge & burn, healing/clone stamp, different blend modes, etc. and I'll reveal my best beauty images in all their layered glory May 09 11 01:19 am Link I believe I am #1 to sign up.....unless someone else was up before 6 AM.
