I recently had two conversations with different models who volunteered some experiences that surprised me. So my question to model is -- have you ever foold around with a photographer during, or right after, a shoot?

Yes, both during and after. But it was with my fiance, so probably not the "dear penthouse forum" story you're looking for

Use the search feature, it will help you find hundreds of other identical threads. This has to come up as a thread 2+ times a week. People interact, sometimes they like each other. It's not any different in photography, but you should still be extra mindful of professionalism. Just because you could drive into a tree randomly doesn't mean it's ok to get in your car and head for a forest. Having a connection may happen randomly, but the time you seek to use your work as a social outlet, you've destroyed your credibility and made the rest of us look a little worse as well.

these threads always come off like wishful thinking. "Dear Penthouse, I was at a shoot and I NEVER though this would happen to me...."

No, and I never would either. I prefer modeling to be strictly platonic. If a photographer found me sexually attractive or vice versa, it would affect the shoot, and ruin the entire point of me showing up. I know how I act around those I am attracted to, and it does not make for a confident, photogenic person. I think it would also make the photographer off his game for the shoot too. Lastly, there is just the fact that I do not want to mix personal with business.

Nope. Never. I dated a photographer but we never fooled around after he took pictures of me. I wasn't really modeling then either.

Wait...you mean to tell me some people DON'T fool around with their photographers. Fucking HEATHENS! How DARE they say they're models if they don't "please" their god-like photographers!

On the surface it may seem very "GWC", but what if a person is just new to the whole model and/or professional photography scene and they want answers to seemingly simple questions? For instance ... I was on a set the other day with a model who was on set as a singer that day. I asked her a question. The question is/was, if you're on a set where you are posing nude and you notice that the photographer has a bulge in their pants (or a wet spot), is that annoying or flattering? I added that this is all assuming that they don't say or do anything that is remotely close to out of line. I also added that I would not ask her or anyone else to EVER pose nude or remotely close to it. Some would say it's "GWC" but I wasn't shooting only pictures that day (I was doing video mostly), she was fully clothed and technically she wasn't a model that day. I've only been on the "model" scene about a month and a half now (though I've been shooting pictures for a while in an attempt to be professional or working toward that goal). In case anyone wonders, her answer was it doesn't happen much and while it would be a bit flattering and insulting, she thinks it's unprofessional (a true professional would have seen similar things enough times to where it wouldn't happen anymore).

Ok.. That last paragraph is bullshit, and here's why.. Arousal is an involuntary response to stimuli.. It happens, and most of the time it cannot be controlled.. While it would be a bit creepy to see, the professional thing to do would be to ignore it.. I've had male models get hard-ons shooting with me.. You move on because shit happens.. She's not a model, so don't ask her questions like that and expect an accurate response..

Well, that's the point of my question... I'm asking the original poster for their reason as anyone else's answer is simply a guess.

Michael Kerrek wrote: you've destroyed your credibility and made the rest of us look a little worse as well. Not necessarily. People like to make connections to things that don't actually exist because it makes being part of this whole shindig more exciting than it actually is. That comes with the territory. OP, the frank answer is as consenting adults, whatever you and the model decide to do is between the two of you.

Hey OP this is a fun topic, however I don't think you'll get any model to admit if they did fool around with a photographer. I don't know about the male models...but I think with women they generally don't want to be perceived as a slut and as other female models chimed in, it wouldn't look professional.

I can't deny that my statement was a "guess" at what the OP thought or whatever ... I just thought what you said was a little harsh considering the OP had 42 posts at the time I joined this thread. Maybe they're new to the whole photography thing. No malice intended.

One time a model saw mine and commented on it, I was a little embarrassed but we had a good laugh with it. It's all about keeping a light and fun vibe.

I was going to mention this in my response to you but didn't want to address all of the side reasoning/explanations in your post as I didn't see the relevance to my post. Anyway, if you checked his profile, he states he used to be a professional photographer but changed to something else (or something to that effect). I checked his profile prior to my original question so I can't remember the exact wording. I already stated in my original post that I was being direct, but I'm confused as to why the number of posts someone makes has anything to do with well... anything. The original poster asked a very blunt question and so did I. I just don't see why this is an issue to anyone.

Yes, I'm supposed to be and act like a professional photographer, but I've been male a lot longer than I've been a photographer and I'm sure I'll be male long after I give up the camera (if I ever do). As long as I find women attractive, it's bound to happen at any time. The idea behind asking her isn't to get the definitive answer but to get her take. Everyone is different. I would imagine some models might walk off the set where others might take my arousal as thinking she's sexy and she'll do an even better job of modeling ... it all depends on who the model is and how they feel about these things. The side benefits of asking were getting to know her a little bit and allowing my camera to cool a bit (my Rebel doesn't like shooting long video segments or even using live view for "long" periods of time ... the owners manual says doing it will damage it).
