Is there any good agency for me who is only 5'4. I'm not tall enough to join well known or famous agencies.

Also do I have to have some certain classes like modeling or acting in order to join an agency?

Do you think I can make it wit my look? Please be brutal honest with me.

Get a cup of coffee and sit down and read everything on this site. Then read it all again. smile

As to your look and brutal honest.....you'd have to make such a request in a critique thread.

Hi Mary!

As pointed out, this is not a critique forum...

But... here is my opinion...

You have a great look!!!

But... you are lacking the height by too much of a measure.

However, you still will be able to do a lot of modeling in other genres of the modeling scene... just because you have a great look... in my opinion!

Good luck... yeah... and read the link provided above.

Best!

Honestly, don't worry about Agencies. They represent a very small portion of available modeling, commercial and fashion, for a very small portion of models.

Instead of looking for an Agency that represents shorter models, 90% of which aren't going to be legit agencies that can actually get you work, but some vehicle to part the aspiring agency model with her money, network, build your portfolio and do the leg work yourself for the type of work you aspire.

Just enjoy the experience and work to promote yourself. There is more to modeling than just Agency representation.

In any of the major markets there is virtually no hope in either the commercial or fashion mainstream agencies, but you might have a better shot with the talent agencies or managers (the ones that represent non-union actors), especially in a smaller market such as Rochester.  They are likely to cast for local businesses and able to make the most of your ethnicity and your (without critiqueing) very sweet and lovely look.

I'd steer clear of modeling schools.  Generally speaking the best of them serve no purpose than an ego boost and the worst are downright frauds.  Acting classes at you local community college and/or participating in your local community theaters could be very useful in terms of developing stage presence, confidence, and comfort with people looking at you.  Many models have found dance classes, particularly ballet, helpful in terms of getting acquainted with and using their bodies.

IMHO, as always.

You are drop dead gorgeous.  Market your local photographers and artist.  There are many projects that do not require height/weight proportions that the run ways and print stuff require.  Consider traveling if you can.  If you are going to an area, say Philadelphia, for some other purpose, contact the locals, like me, and see if you can set some stuff up.  You are a business and a commodity.  Market and sell yourself.  Good luck.

Hint for anybody that wants to hire her.  Don't be afraid of her being deaf.  If YOU look at her when you speak (don't hide your mouth with the camera or your hand), it will go a long way to communicating.  A lot of sign language is intuitive.   She will understand easily.
