Yeah never is a long time.
But for me.
  Bony hand, fingers covering breast
Nude in gasmask, or clothed for that matter.
Goofy fashion model with her feet turned in (well, I'll sure as hell never suggest it)
  Need I mention angel,fairy wings
Fake blood on model a la' Carrie
Model so oily/wet she looks like a basted ham
Cute model with vampire fangs, and fake blood
  Nude with pink tutu

What are your favorites that you refuse to shoot ?

Anything with caution tape, railroad tracks (unless the image can bring a new perspective), etc.

Cowgirl huggin tree.

Half the senior portraits I see are that hands on tree, with a wistful look in their eyes. Bah...

cliché isn't always such a bad thing, I simply wouldn't shoot something that has been done before.  not even ONCE before.  originality and creativity are fading on this site sad when I was signed up with professional pictures oh so long ago, everything seemed fresh and new, but now, almost all of the profiles look the same sad

I am glad that I am not limited by the term "cliche"!

I shoot whatever seems to be right at the time, for me... my art... my clients... the situation.

I let unimaginative people bitch about "cliche" while they often don't come up with something that wasn't already shot about 7.35 Million times within the past 18 months or so, worldwide.

The word "cliche" is such a cliche... wink

I will not be among the group who shoots naked women in the woods. It was beautiful once but now it's done. If you are guilty of this please stop. Strech your brain and come up with something new.

I will not ever ask a model to put a belt around her breasts. I see a lot of that lately. I just don't get it.

I will not do a self portrait holding my camera over my eye. Almost every photographer I know has one. It's so overdone, I can't stand it.

I’m an equal opportunity cheese ball, I will shoot anything, anyway no matter what people think. If the model / client wants it, I shoot it.  Caution Tape, Belts on the boobies, tree hugging, pedals, who cares.  It is kind of surprising how many people still ask for the pedals and caution tape shots. I get at lease 2 a month wanting them. Paying clients as well as models. And don’t forget the over used Harley pics.  And yes, I am shooting that next week, hell maybe I will put some caution tape on the models waist and a belt around her bobbies and toss some rose pedals on her and the bike and have her hold a gun?

Damn, now I will not sleep till I put that combination together for a shot.

Hell... If I'm getting paid, I'll shoot anything (almost anything). But by choice... I'm more than picky. Lol...

I agree with the caution tape.

I mean... c'mon!

I'm sure it was so awesome and innovative... the FIRST ten times.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE selective desaturation or whatever the hell its called but no "oooh its all B+W except for the red lips, or a rose, or a green labia!" whatever. It was stupid the first time someone did it!

As a photographer, a self portrait of myself holding a camera...  How many photographers have one of those?  At least my closest to that was in college shooting myself reflective in a window where the camera was on a tripod and I was 3 feet from it (though I'm amazed at how many people never see the camera in the corner of the shot)...  smile

I'll shoot any cliche as long as the money's right.  I gots to eat.

However, I agree with Udo.  Railroad tracks/caution tape/angel wings/etc. are cliches in and of themselves, but there's it's not inconceivable that one could shoot them in an interesting way.  Except for selective desaturation. I can't conceive of an interestign way to do that.

I knew there was a reason i liked you Udo.  Well aside from our similar taste in round apples.  But yeah I've said it before and I'll say it again. People that complain about cliche's are the ones too unimaginative to make that cliche their own.  And everything has been shot before. EVERYTHING.  Multiple times.  So anything you've  shot is cliche at this point, what makes YOUR cliche better than mine?

cliche is o.k. if done well , I have no desire to shoot overlit with an acoustic guitar.. but darkly lit with rats coming out of the guitar would be interesting... or even spiders , and a busted guitar.. or violin...

Point being... don't call me for a shoot in a Motel Sucks , I mean Six , tell me to bring by best evening gown, and then throw me against bad ugly curtians, insist on keeping it in color... and tell me it's great ... cuz its not .... Ever Ever Ever....everything else is a go.. if it is done well.. and is emotive.

Now the W rarely has bad curtains.... neither does the Palmer House...
