June 13, 2010 12:49am Hi, you might say that this is the "missing link", the move from curve and graphic line into colour, to human form with depth. "Mannequin/manikin" is an interesting word, kind-of-man/little figure. The artist Nussbaum used mannequins as a central theme to show dehumanisation. Your use of figure and geometric form has the feel of Chirico and his fascination with mental shapes. The mannequins in boxes, to me, suggest the packaging of BEAUTY (of which there is a lot on MM), whereas the extreme use of colour suggests the need for an emotional life (outside the box/photographic image). I like the shifting planes of perception. An alchemist would see this work as the "Peacock", an awakening to perceptions that break the mould of identity. Am I close? :-) An interesting work.
