July 22, 2013 4:01am This image reminds me of the soft and grainy atmosphere that every image produced in the 1970's seemed to possess. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that this is a bad thing. In fact it suits this image rather well. The contrast could be raised a bit which would really make the model 'pop' from the page. I would like to have seen a bit more detail in the hat (and the foreground from the chest down) as these areas are a bit too dark but the light on the model's face is wonderfully diffused and soft. The decision to fill the frame with the model was the correct one and I think that the top of the frame could be cropped closer to the hat to make the image even more intimate. The model's pose is relaxed and natural and she does make a good connection with the camera. Pros: Model's pose, atmosphere and mood, diffused lighting on facial area- Cons: muddy contrast (needs to be raised), bit too much negative space above head, bit dark. Having said that I do like the image very much and with a little bit of tweaking (as advised above) this would become an even more engaging and impressive portrait.
