About Me

*Retouchers:* please STOP sending me "friend" requests - I do all my own work, and I'm also not a fan of making people look like plastic mannequins.
--
I'm more comfortable with calling myself a photographer, as in the past I generally used the photos I take as starting points, utilizing Photoshop and other methods in the process of creation. But something's happened over recent years and I've been told that a lot of my unaltered shots stand pretty well on their own! And I actually leave them that way more than usual now.

I have usually not planned out my shoots out too much beforehand beyond locations, but I feel like I'm stuck in a rut and looking to move beyond that. I'm learning more about lighting and flash, but I tend to use natural light.

It may limit me but I have a preference for a more "gothic" or alternative look in the models that I shoot - my final pieces seem to end up going in that direction anyways. I went to goth clubs (and DJed in them) for over 20 years, so sue me!

We'd have to discuss how a shoot would benefit the both of us. I just like to create. Until I can define it better, I'm just looking to create Art. As for financial success in that area, I've had sporadic luck over the years, but not enough live off of it. They say do what you love and the work will find you. I'll keep my window open, then. And resist jumping out of it.

I like to think of what I do as collaboration, so I prefer models that bring some ideas of their own or can embellish mine. I'm better at "directing" now.

I am hoping some day to have a live-in artist space, but until then I do not have a studio to speak of (other than one room in my apartment that I can arrange for shoots), so photoshoot locations will have to be figured out beforehand.

If you're adding me as a friend on here, could you please at least write and tell me why or something! Don't just add me to a list. *sigh* - but judging by most of my friend requests, though, nobody seems to read this part. I guess I'll add people anyways, but I still don't get this "friend-collecting" contest that goes on on this and other sites.

"I enjoyed our shoot together! We had a good creative balance, both bringing ideas to the table, and I'm really happy with the images that resulted. I hope we get a chance to work together again in the future!" Read less
