Tom Gore

After university I was a commercial photographer specializing in fashion and architecture for a number of years.  For the rest of my career I taught photography, photojournalism and history of photography at the University of Victoria.  I seldom accept assignments now and concentrate on working as a fine art photographer, a euphemism for making lots of brilliant work that seldom sells.

If you like my work and would like to collaborate on making wonderful pictures please give a shout, I'm always so delighted to work with someone new.  I specialize in portraits and creative nudes that combine studio work with background environments, mostly shot in Europe.  They are a synthesis of ideas from the Renaissance and the Surrealists.

The streets of Europe, the landscape from the Arctic to the tropics, the metaphoric photograph and the fine art nude are areas of ongoing work, along with a Paris based Atget re-photographic project.  I mostly shoot out on the streets and in a beautiful studio I share in Victoria's historic Chinatown.  I also write about photography and photographic history.  I've won numerous awards and grants for photography and writing.

I can help develop your portfolio and will give you the highest quality images and a wide range of styles.  My portfolio rates are very reasonable and include a two hour shoot and fifteen edited files for $475.  I'm also happy to trade work for your portfolio (portraits or fashion) if you'll help realize my projects.  A friend request means I’d love to work with you so please don't be shy . . .
