About Me

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you enjoy reviewing my work.

Comment on an image if you have a moment; it would be appreciated.

If you haven't already visited my two official websites and would like to do so, just click on the links below and enjoy your visit. Thanks. (full service, traditional photography) (editorial, commercial, lifestyle photography)

Life is short and not everyone has the patience to read about my approach to photography work or my background. That's cool. So here's the short version; I consider myself to be a professional and I enjoy my work. If you enjoy yours we should work together at some point or another. No drama, just great photography, great modeling and maybe a few laughs!

Have time to read? Thinking about working with me? Great! Check out the long version below if you like.

While most of my work comes from private clients, I've been fortunate enough to have some of my work published in multiple commercial venues. This includes editorial content as well as various advertisements in newspapers and magazines and on billboards and transit ads. As always, the collaboration of other talented individuals including models and make up artists, helped make my portfolio possible........and many thanks to all of them.

Naturally, I take my photography work seriously but still like to be able to enjoy it as well! Otherwise, why bother, right? I enjoy the creative process as much as I enjoy collaborating with other creative talent, including models, make up artists, wardrobe designers and others.

I still believe in courtesy and manners. If I respond to your casting call or otherwise contact you for a shoot, please be courteous enough to respond to my inquiry in a somewhat timely fashion even if you're not interested; a simple "no thanks" will do. I promise to extend the same courtesy to you when contacting me.

In general, I'm fairly laid back with shoots and clients. Basic planning and preparation however, are priorities of mine; I think it's important to be ready when creativity strikes. In order to be prepared and accomplish everyone's goals, communication is key...I can't read your mind but I will respect your input; so speak up. Your time is valuable too; make the most of it! Speaking of time, I like to take my time with people I work with. I don't care to be rushed. Otherwise, I would specialize in weddings instead.

If you want to work with us, send us a message and tell us the details of what you want to accomplish. In order to provide you with the kind of results you have in mind, we like to have a "pre-shoot" meeting whenever possible to discuss your session and your mission so that we're all on the same page; a simple phone conversation will do. We like to be prepared as much as possible; meaning among other details, lights and set are already in place upon your arrival.

Same thing applies if we hire you; we need to tell you what the shoot is about regarding concept and theme so you can prepare yourself as necessary. Again, we believe in being prepared and being on the same page. This avoids confusion and eliminates the potential for drama the day of your session. In addition, all models will be required to sign our basic release; this includes models we hire, models who pay us and TF models.

While it may seem obvious, we ask that you please be sure your personal stats are up to date before contacting us; this includes genre's or your areas of preferred work too! Don't include an area of work on your profile unless you're up to it.

Please don't contact us expecting to get paid unless you are highly experienced and/or we contacted you regarding your rates. Otherwise, inexperienced models generally pay US to work with them in order to build their portfolio with professional, high quality images that demonstrate their skills as a model. If you are a TF seeker, please read on.

Due to a shortage of serious minded individuals, I have just about given up on providing TF work. The trouble is, I still enjoy helping people and don't want to also exclude individuals who are truly committed and deserve a head start. That being said, I am STILL willing to consider special TF sessions for serious aspiring models, make up artists and wardrobe designers who are committed to developing their work and can provide something truly unique for my portfolio if I help them.

Please keep in mind, if you expect to collaborate with me, you should have a professional approach to your work, even if you are inexperienced; this includes a working knowledge of your craft as well as intelligent, thoughtful, creative input. After all, this is what the term collaboration refers to.

Anyone can stand in front of the camera with their hands on their hips. Attractive people who think they have what it takes to be a model are dime a dozen. In reality, it takes ability, talent and lots of practice; if you've developed those skills, you don't need perfect looks.

So, if you are not yet prepared to be openly creative and expressive with your work on set and uncomfortable in front of a camera, if you have no idea what your expressions look like without a mirror, you may want to seriously work on all that before contacting us. On the other hand, if you sincerely believe you are prepared, AND YOU HAVE A CREATIVE CONCEPT YOU WANT TO WORK ON, I would love to hear from you. Together, we can make it work and both benefit from the results.

On the "easy going scale" of 1-10, I must be an eight or a nine; but please, don't tell me how excited you are about working together, set a shoot date, discuss a variety of details, then not show up for your shoot. This will be viewed as a total lack of professionalism on your part and complete disregard of other people's time and effort.....not cool. Usually, this tends to be more common with TF shoots but it happens with paying clients too!
Either way, if you "flake" at the last minute or the evening before your shoot, don't expect to work with us in the future without advance payment.

Think about it. If you flake at the last minute, it means we lost a day of production, which could have gone to someone else who really wants to work. It's also possible we purchased materials for your shoot! So please, don't waste your time and mine if you're not serious about working. My listing here on MM is all about WORKING and networking with other professionals who are here for the same reason. No one appreciates having their time wasted. You would feel the same way if I flaked on you.

If you want to bring a friend to your shoot so you feel "safe", that's fine...but please, ONLY one. However, we recommend that they leave once you're comfortable with the environment. If your friend must stay, we suggest you bring someone you are not romantically involved with; they will either inhibit your creativity or cause you to "overact".....I'm not sure which is worse. Otherwise, we must ask that your friend not wander around, not touch equipment, not distract you, not attempt to direct the shoot from behind my back, stare at you while you work or otherwise interfere in any way with your work or mine. If it happens, you will be expected to ask your friend to go somewhere for a very long coffee break until you are done with your session. Oh, and please, no pets; yes, it has happened.

As sad as it is, there are a lot of creeps out there with cameras these days. Clearly, most of them are far removed from the status of professional and their sample work usually shows it in more ways than one; so we understand a model's concerns and the genuine need to be cautious. However, I have two professional websites you can evaluate that display the kind of work which pays our bills....and of course, you're always welcome to check references with any of the models or make up artists we've worked with here on MM if their page is still active. Our professional websites can be accessed at the following URLs:

ALSO, if you're a local model, you're more than welcome to make an appointment to meet us and say hello! In fact, we encourage that....we like to know who we're working with too! Out-of-towners should feel free to give us a call at any time! Our number is clearly posted on our websites. We would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.

My only goal while in session with any model is to create the best images possible and that's as far as it goes! So please...RELAX! If you're not comfortable working with me, your images will show it! Then, what's the point?

Please appreciate and observe the fact that all of our work is under copyright.  In other words, create your own pictures. Thanks!

While it may seem like a lot to read, the following is intended to give you a little perspective on who we are and to be as informative as possible.

I've lived and worked in New Orleans most of my life. My partner and wife Elaine is a native of Brazil and has lived here for seventeen years. We've been married now for over fifteen of those years and it's been great! I've never partnered with or communicated so well with anyone else, ever before.

Getting to know new clients is always a pleasure for both of us. Our goal is to achieve the results you're looking for. We encourage our clients to communicate with us; we want to hear your ideas and make your vision a reality.

While she has her own pursuits, Elaine and I will work as a team from time to time on our various projects; we love to help talent and clients accomplish what they have in mind regarding styles of lighting, locations and special effects. While Elaine assists me on large, commercial shoots and some modeling shoots, the images posted here on Model Mayhem and my other two websites however, were photographed exclusively by me, Wayne Ferrara.

While I have over 18 years of experience with a variety of imaging software programs, like most old-school, professional photographers who formerly worked with film, I always try to achieve the best results possible with the camera first, by using enhanced natural lighting or a particular style of studio lighting as a solid foundation.

Nevertheless, digital post processing has become a big part of the photography process. Clients with special requests often call upon these software imaging skills, in one way or another, to further enhance the image according to their preferences. This often includes the incorporation of graphic design work for commercial applications.

When you visit our website, you will find that our modeling and headshot rates are very reasonable and competitive.

No matter what your needs are, we promise professional results.

............Wayne Ferrara

P.S. If you live in the New Orleans area or travel here often and interested in working with us.....CONTACT US. Don't just send us a random friend request, tell us about yourself and why you're are interested in working with us. Random friend requests and tags are not interpreted as an interest in working together.

Thank you for taking the time to review the portion of work displayed here.....please visit our website for lots more. If you work in the New Orleans area or are a frequent visitor and want to schedule a session, please contact us via our website, phone or this page. Thank you again.
