Hello everyone, please be aware that I am on hiatus for a little while, due to pregnancy.
I specialize in retro/vintage or other historical-style modeling, as well as highly costumed, goth, anime and scifi/fantasy themed shoots. I make hats and costumes (including reproductions of outfits from the 1940s-1950s from the original vintage patterns). I like to use these garments in shoots when appropriate, so I come equipped with a pretty extensive wardrobe. I can also do some vintage hairstyles, and I have some wigs. I am good with make-up. I have experience doing costumes and wardrobe for theater. I am neither desperately young nor rail thin, but I provide a good classic, curvy shape that does well for vintage styling.
I am particularly interested in working with photographers who can provide interesting lighting, perspective or postprocessing, and who are looking for something a little less mainstream. I will not do nude shots. I will do TFP/TFCD work, and I am happy to hear from photographers who might like to shoot with me -- just send me a message. I have studied vintage pinup so I know how to pose, but I am also easygoing and open to ideas, and I genuinely enjoy the process of a shoot. I travel up the Eastern Seaboard quite a bit (I'm originally a NYer and I have family in MD and Ft. Lauderdale, FL) so I am willing to travel to shoots around those areas.
I have an online store for my hats at joeireedhats.etsy.com, and a blog about hat and hairstyling tips at joeireedhats.livejournal.com.

I am fortunate to have worked with such great photographers that I don't have the space to show all my shots here, so I try to show images here that give you a sense of the versatility I can bring to shoots. You can also see more pics at myspace.com/joeireed.
By the way, if I comment on one of your photos, it's not empty praise. I don't spend all day commenting, and I really do only comment on photos I actually like.
I do get my Model Mayhem messages immediately, but if you want to email me, feel free to do so at joeireedhats@gmail.com.
