Because what you asked makes you sound really young. Almost like those young models who get icked out by photographers who are a lot older than them, lol. I mean, Dick Clark IS new years rockin eve. He has been the MC for it since day one. its tradition. Just because the guy had a stroke is no reason to say sorry dude, youre out.

If you had a stroke and still shot, how would you feel if a model said, no way dude, go home and just waste away, lol

some companies, like tv networks, keep traditions, companies like coca cola rely on fads and whatever will catch the kids attention, such as cute little polar bears with cool animation, and doing stuff like having polar bears and penguins in the same commercial as though the live anywhere near eachother in the first place, lol.

No, ABC got Dick on New Years Eve, as they have since he started New Years Rockin' Eve to counter program Guy Lombardo's New Years Countdown.

Whoops. You're right. I had my BC's mixed up.

And no, I do not have to power to ban coca-cola, except in the sence that I won't drink the stuff.

He should not of had a speaking part in the show. Maybe just one sentence. Like (Happy New Years to all). But those three paragraphs he read were awful..What a downer. A lot of drunk people were making fun of him...A man so respected, looked and sounded like a mumbling clown. I personally think the show should of been produced better to show Dick Clark in a better light.

I hear a lot of people talking about how Dick Clark shouldn't have been on the air and how sad it was.

While I agree that it was sad seeing Dick Clark in that way, I was also happy for him.  He had his stroke and has spent all of his time trying to get back to NYE after missing last year for the first time ever.  For me, I find that inspiring... for someone who pushes past the odds to do something that they love doing.

So while Dick may not have sounded like his old self and maybe it was sort of sad to watch, I am happy he made it back.

Someone who understands! right on! Besides, look at Micheal Douglas after his stroke, he is doing pretty damn well and the effects are not as obvious as before. the same may happen to dick.

That was Kirk Douglas, Michaels father, not Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas' husband.

Why not? Sure he's not the same... but for someone who essentially couldn't speak a year ago he's doing amazingly well. I think it was brave of him to do the show because most people in his place probably wouldn't have.

Having danced on American Bandstand and met Dick Clark more than once, I find it sad to see the passing of a legend.  I agree that it was tough seeing him on the air, but it is also sad to know that it may have been the last time.

One of the things you young whipper-snappers don't realize is that one of the sad things about getting older is that everyone around you gets older too.  Funerals and hospital visits become more common.

Dick Clark is past his prime, but he brings back memories for a lot of us.  I won't ever forget the first time I met him.

I wish him nothing but the best.

I look at it this way. By having the balls to go up there in front of MILLIONS of americans he made himself a role model for SO many people struggling with similar conditions. He made himself a figure of hope, serious kudos to him.
