Filter/Effect used?
I love the look of this photo and the colors. Can someone help tell me how to acheive this. I know photoshop but can never get images to look like this. thanks! May 31 09 01:50 am Link Ask Jaime.. he's a nice guy. -PKD May 31 09 01:52 am Link i guess that would work. i absolutely adore his stuff. May 31 09 01:53 am Link lot's of fashion ads like this now in vogue mag. i have been looking for the same "trick". probably some sunlight filter with lens flare? May 31 09 01:56 am Link Most of this effect is caused by the flare, then I suspect the rest was done with tonal adjustments in a levels layer. May 31 09 01:56 am Link his original is on his website. here: http://www.ibarraphoto.com/ under "retouche" May 31 09 01:57 am Link hard to say...how esactly and where it was done. this might be a nik filter (nik software), and not from photoshop itself. nik is available as a plug-in and they have a wide preset filter range (and others for special coloring, or b&w effects, etc) check them out and see in their filter-list (on website) what they offer. May 31 09 01:57 am Link can you at least the photo that you're trying to do? i am curious to see... May 31 09 01:58 am Link May 31 09 02:01 am Link I wouldn't go so far as grabbing an unedited version of his image from his site and slapping it up here. He's a nice guy but even I wouldn't want this going on. You're almost destined to have someone come in here and butcher it. -PKD May 31 09 02:05 am Link not his photo, your photo... May 31 09 02:06 am Link oh well i just meant to show the original colors, i did mean to offend. i dont have an image at the moment May 31 09 02:10 am Link Marco Carocari wrote: thanks. very helpful May 31 09 02:22 am Link yes, i got that nik filter, sunlight, perhaps some yellow filter combined with lens flare... May 31 09 02:30 am Link Probably a Curves layer with a mask would be my guess. Love it BTW. Once you get the flare to where you want it, and the size that you want it, then just tone the photo to where you like it. No need to buy any fancy filters anymore to get the effects you want. I think the bookstore has a book on creating filter effects in Photoshop. That would be a better investment. Jun 01 09 05:04 pm Link Why do people keep mentioning lens flare plugins... The lens flare here is real. Jun 01 09 05:18 pm Link Tahiti Huetter Designs wrote: No filter at all. Lens flare from the sun shining on the front element. Jun 01 09 05:25 pm Link Love love love Jaime's work! A lot of people do the fashioney/color processed look, but Jaime's images always manage to look unique and gorgeous. I'd guess he did a fair amount of curves adjustment layers for cross processing, color layering, and contrast, as well as masking, dodge & burn, and also blended in the clouds in the upper right part of the sky. And yes, the lens flares are in camera, not PS. Jun 01 09 05:37 pm Link Le Beck Photography wrote: Compare this image to the original on his website. Tahiti Huetter Designs wrote: Jun 01 09 05:50 pm Link I love Jamies stuff as well. I've sent him an email out the blue before about his stuff and he answered right back. Great work, nice man. Jun 01 09 05:54 pm Link Why does everyone assume photoshop here? Go outside and shoot into the sun and you pretty much get what you see here. The lens flair happens all by itself. Jun 01 09 05:57 pm Link Shoot into the sun and then tweak in post! Jun 01 09 06:00 pm Link Lot's of people get similar results, but very few, if any can replicate what Jaime does. You can ask, but he usually get's paid for showing how he works. I'm sure it matters from start to finish how the photo is taken and processed. Jun 01 09 06:01 pm Link Dan Dozer wrote: Aside from the lens flair (which we know is in camera) that image was most definitely post processed... and done quite well, I might add. Did you see the before and after images? Jun 01 09 06:02 pm Link One issue not addressed is that each camera lens combo will give you a different type/style of lens flair. Lens flair from a 1937 Zeiss will not be the same as a Modern Canon 50mm 1.4. Jun 01 09 06:21 pm Link The real thing. Jun 01 09 06:26 pm Link Open up your curves and play around with the individual color channels. Probably also some selective color/color balance and masking. Jun 01 09 06:49 pm Link |
