I wasn't required to do touchups. I just made the initial application as bulletproof as possible. Probably the weirdest request I had to do was lube up one of the girls (top portion only) and to cover up the booty from scars and what not (lemme tell you, i threw away the brush after that & thank goodness it wasn't my expensive one) it was uncomfortable to watch, but i was prepared with magazines, my ds and my ipod to keep myself busy during sets & to block out the noise.. doing makeup for the adult industry is not for the squirmish or close minded, you have to do your research, since this was referred to me from a friend I trusted him. But find out everything you can about the company and what exactly is involved and see if you are comfortable, you dont want to end up at a set in an alley with beastiality involved. and since I had my friend I felt safe. so for a total of 10 hrs the pay was $600..worth it for me & all the interesting stories i was able to tell my friends. If it feels sketchy, just don't do it. But if you haven't done it, don't assume it's all/always like that because you are incorrect in that assumption. There seems to be an attitude that porn stars are "dirty" but I dont think so. They are tested a lot more often than the regular population, and you have no idea what the models you are doing makeup on in mainstream are doing with their personal lives or when they were last tested. I keep my kit sanitary no matter who I am working on. I also think some of you would be surprised how many big name artists also do work in adult. KAT Mar 21 11 04:59 pm Link heres my opinion: a check is a check is a check. thats it. its not like you are applying the makeup and watching them "do their thing" and then jump in a do touch ups. i have worked on a few adult films. they are professional people making a living doing what they enjoy.. and i'm a professional person making a living doing what i enjoy. we are in an idustry of many talents regardless if you are a makeup artist, photographer, stylist, film maker, actor. who is to say what is right and what is wrong? They are making a movie. who cares what this movie involves. we watch movies all the time that has some form of sex scene involved.. Titanic, Departed, Notebook... etc all have sex scenes.. its acting!! its their job.. they dont judge you. so dont judge them. show up. do your job. get paid. go home to your family. the end. I had forgot all about this. And just to let you all know, the guy must of forgot he called me and a couple of weeks later he called me again. He asked me the same question and this time I said yes out of sheer curiosity I asked him to send me over the details, he never and just asked me to 'text me your asking price' to which I sent my day rate, which is the going rate for my area. 2 days later I got a reply saying my rates where far too high and he isn't willing to pay that, the girls will do there own makeup! I never even bothered replying, I always follow my gut instinct these days! The adult industry is how do I say.. my 2nd industry! I've done makeup for a lot of adult videos. Having worked in the industry myself had its perks because everyone knew I was a makeup artist and I got even more jobs not only as an entertainer, but an artist as well. This industry isn't for everyone, but doing makeup for porn and/or feature dancers is no different than doing anyone elses makeup. Its a job. I've NEVER been asked to do touchups after they have already started a scene. I have always had the option to leave as soon as makeup was applied and completed. Makeup is applied in a seperate area, you don't need to be anywhere near the set. NO, you absolutely DO NOT have to "clean up cum shots".. that's absolutely ridiculous to say something like that and call it "fact". Although porn stars are clean and always tested regularly, my brush and hands do NOT and will NOT touch the talent after they have been "active" in the scene. If your uncomfortable doing something, simply don't do it! As far as doing it for "anyone", don't just do it for anyone. I am picky about who I work with! Reputable businesses or go home..
