Does anyone know of any cheap hotels in the area (I suppose I can look, but it'd be awesome if someone knew off the top of their heads) or have a place for a few of us to stay? That'd be excellent, as we're coming from the NH/MA area.

go on expedia or travelocity
i for 2-4 of them for like $50

Quick question - I noticed it says we can use the images taken for personal non-commercial use only. Would this include use on our photography websites? I'm just about to launch mine and am not sure if using them on it would classify as commercial usage.

Please don't eat me... I'm still a relative noob to the business aspect of things  smile

Thanks in advance!

Hey!
Put me on the tenative list.
I am for sure coming, I just dont have any extra cash at this moment.
My husband was in the hospital for a month and got surgery.. so it will probably be the end of the month before I can get some cash in.
(Sorry for the delay!)

Anyone want to carpool from Columbus OH?

I Have a tiny ass car... but you would be amazed how much can be smashed in it..that also means cheaper gas mileage by the way..haha.

Oh.. and who wants to shoot!!!???

I'm so stoked!

But I'm hungry, and freaking Popeye's Chicken is closed (remember our quest to eat at Popeye's at the ESP shoot, and our repeated epic-fails?)

I think there's a Popeyes in Columbus, the food choices are limited up there.

There's a Amish place with great home cooking and amazing donuts in Bellville.

Hey everyone! I was sent the info for this event by a friend of mine, asking if I'd be interested.  I read through all of the posts here and it sounds like a lot of fun with several great people.  However, I was a bit confused about the price.  Is the price for the shoot an even $35 or will I need to put in a photographer's shooting fee of $150 in addition to the entry fee?

Thanks everyone!  I'd love to meet all of you.

It took a lot of "convincing" on our part, but OSR is waiving their $150 photographer fee for this event.  All it will cost is the $35 per person.  smile

Indeed there is... I've been working on it today.  smile

Go here:

Hope that helps!

Also, I want to remind everyone that, if you are planning on attending, please let me place you on the "tentative" list.  smile

If you know your are attending feel free to set up shoot and send in entry fee.  We hope to have the first $200 to give OSR and have our event placed their calender by the end of September.

I plan to send in my $35 very soon, and DO plan to attend this event.  I was born and raised in Mansfield, and still never visited the prison!  It will be loads of fun I'm sure.

Looking forward to setting things up with some of the photographers attending.

I'm definitely going to attend. You can pen me in for a model too, though this far out I'm not sure who it will be...

Are the "grounds" anything like ESP? The main rental rooms appear to have been fully restored and devoid of the cool decaying, creepyness of ESP.

Payment on the way next time I'm in PayPal.

Oh, the cell blocks are full of texture and plenty of "creepy".  That's one thing I find really interesting about OSR... some has been restored, but others parts are being left in their "natural", decaying state.  It makes for a very interesting mix!

Please add me to the "tentative" list. I'm interested, but it is a long way off. And I kind of don't like the "for portfolio use only" stipulation...was that a condition for the lowered fee?

We can't sell their "image".  However, if you land a spectacular shot and wish to seek publication, I'm sure they will negotiate with you.  They want to control the image that is portrayed to the public (understandable, given the nature of the facility.)

So we can't use them for print either I assume?

I think they meant no commercial use.  We will call tomorrow and try to get clarification.
