No kidding.  Most of the folks in this thread are hours south of me.

Oh well. Hi from behind the redwood curtain aka Humboldt County, where there are hardly any people and even fewer photographers and models.  Guess that's why I shoot in San Francisco a lot, although the image of Beth just below is a local effort.

I think "Central Valley/Bay Area" is a more appropriate location description for this thread.

I doubt that most of these 'Nor-Cal' people have ever been north of Sacramento.

Nah not until a few of us wander in and mention that we have in fact seen the 5 all the way from Mt Shasta down to where it ends into the 8 just a few miles north of TJ.

SF is referred to as Nor Cal just as everyone living 100 miles from Disneyland thinks it is in this place called LA.

'The 5' is in southern CA, in Northern California we have I5, and it goes further north than Mt. Shasta.

ok, ok, while "boundry issues" are still being the topic.. let me post some pics shall I.

Anyways, while the MAIN MAN was here in Vegas, we had visited the "sushi factory" and it was all you can eat sushi for $25 per person. This pic was taken when half the food was eaten. total bill with sake and drinks. $190 + tipage, about $210

Yea that is how I get pegged as being from southern I say
THE 5, 101, 110.

as apposed to
5, 101, 110.

I think in May if all goes well I'll make a road trip all the way to Seattle.
Still not sure if I want to take the 5 or the 101.

Never mind north and south... 5 and 101 are two very different parallel universes.  And it's not only the weather that's different.

The spirit of this thread was to allow folks that were regional to network and chat with one another.  Let's keep it that way.

The continued debate on what is NorCal is poor form.  If you wish you may start a thread for those you consider to be NorCal, but let us do our thing here.  I'm happy to chat with folks from the Bay, Central Cal, NorCal and even SoCal for that matter...

A few weeks back I had the chance to shoot with Kris Joal down in Stockton.  Very cool cat. We shot Jessica Claire Harvey and Kathy Joy, both great folks to shoot with.  Here's a couple of behind the scenes pics courtesy of Kris Joal (which reminds me I've gotta go point him in this directions)

you know im not really a "fan" of the color seperation, but theres something about that girl in the denim jacket and the b/w background that just makes this an exception to my taste... she looks like shes a fun girl to shoot...aand the rest of the pics are really good as well too.

BTW... i am so jealous of your 5ft octagon softbox and powerpack set up. smile

Hey there comrades!  Thanks for the invite to the thread!  It's nice to see so many familiar "faces" and to have a community gathering spot here on MM.  So... I've been shooting a bit lately, but unfortunately the "real" work that pays all of my lifestyle bills has been very intense, therefore cutting into my shooting time.  Nevertheless, I've had some great sessions.  Here are a few from some of my most recent shoots:

Shot in a new "secret" NorCal spot, I really like the way this turned out with the elegance of the model contrasted with the rustic, textured setting --
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/100206/18/4b6e2c0fd6f27.jpg

The same shoot... fog was starting to roll and with a little "help" in post, I was able to get the "mood" I was seeking with this B&W:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/100206/19/4b6e2cb2a05ed.jpg

I've still got a whole shoot with an awesome new model to edit yet, and I agreed to help out a model/concert pianist with a shoot tonight with a Yamaha grand piano in a bay area concert hall.  That could be fun! smile

Thanks for the invite, and look forward to hanging out with everyone!
