The big one for me is when everything is set up, time is put aside, looking forward to the shoot only to have the model do a no call/no show. And then hours later, the model states that she "forgot and the phone was on silent." Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, lady, when you are the type of person that lives for her phone 24/7.

OK, fellow photographers, what do you hate in this business?

When a model says, especially in her MM profile, she doesn't do nudes because she wants to only do "classy" and/or "quality" photography.

I'm fine with not doing nudes, but I take mild offense to the "classy" term. smile

Getting no feedback from models after I have sent them shoot preview links.

I put my heart, soul, and most of my spare time into this, and it's a major letdown when models seem to not care.

• models that lie about measurements
• models who refuse to provide an unedited pic (because hey why would someone need 1 of these to actually judge whatt some looks like!)
• list themselves as "very experienced" after shooting half a dozen shoots
• models who only seek pay yet portfolio looks horrendous
• models who just stand there
• models who show up late
• models who expects you to photoshop shots like other photographers work ("can you make it look like this? thanks!"... "Nope. Did you check out my work before u agreed to shoot? thanks")
• models that think they're Retoucher (no permission)
• models who think they're Art Directors...

basically 90% of mm

But i respect and appreciate models that know and love their job!

Biggest pet peeve, is when a model retouches my photo, without asking me and does a horrible job of it. Explanation - it was fun and I like it that way (gaussian blur and overexposed skin like casper the friendly ghost). Response - take my name off of it, take my watermark off of it and credit yourself. haha

When I see a brand new model with six out of focus, incorrectly exposed and uninterestingly posed photographs, asked to do trade ( in the Subject ) and get back "what would it be paying i have hundreds of photos so i dont need any more really x"

On a TFP shoot.  The subject requests a bunch of edits...and then never seems to use any of them.

Models that want to get paid and also expect you to give them all the images at the conclusion of the shoot.

Not hates, really, but I do get annoyed sometimes when:

People respond in the forums with spiteful or nonresponsive comments to reasonable questions.

Models commit to "X" and then, after I've arranged the studio and my time for X, say "Oh, I've changed my mind.  Let's do Y instead."

Photographers that routinely bash models.  (Moderation in all things, you know.)

And as others have said equating nudity with porn.

*On their MM profile, I hate(maybe hate is too strong a word for some, let's say it 'drives me crazy' instead) when models put their age as 100 years old and they list all their sizes as ~0~....I need to know your cup size, etc. so I know if you will fit into the clothing I am going to be using for our potential shoot, don't make me guess..!!
*Don't answer a casting call asking me all the same questions that were answered in the listing, it let's me know you didn't read the casting, which let's me know you don't have attention to detail...also...if your profile and/or email to me is full of sloppy writing or words too abbreviated or misspelled, again...it makes me wonder what else you don't care about,(when I think about us shooting together), which makes me go on to the next girl.~

Sprouts are effin' awesome... big_smile

I hate... inconsiderate car-drivers... I don't care if you go fast or slow, but do it with a regard for those around you and don't dither!

On MM - I hate it when people take a criticism of their opinion as a criticism of them personally.

For example: if you allow models to bring escorts (or even if you don't care either way), that's fine - it doesn't make you an idiot or 'wrong' or even a bad person - but my disagreeing with you doesn't make me an idiot, 'wrong' or a bad person either.

I came in here to say the same thing.

I can't be the only one who finds these threads to be terribly polarizing.

Models do things photographers hate. Photographers do things models hate. MUAs do things models and photographers hate. People do things I hate. I do things people hate. But I don't waste my time venting about it in a public forum and coming across as negative and having a poor attitude towards those I'm on this site to try and work with.

When you forward an email to the model and they reply in the third person.

Hello this is Model Mayhem who the fudge has a real, not pretend, manager on here. I understand that you would like the notoriety and recognition but earn it don't pretend it.

I hate the product manager who set the pricing for the Canon 5D III. Seems like a great camera but not $1,000 greater than its competitor.

i also "hate" people who feel the need to act uppity and judgmental while entering into a thread knowing the subject. ya hate that too smile

let people vent, its natural. if people want to be defense about these comments too bad. instead, for the ones that are unfamiliar with our gripes, listen and you could benefit greatly. problem is most dont listen or learn and these are the people that frustrate us.

honesty, its a rarity i suppose....

ps- posting a jpeg as a reasonable response is about as immature as you can get in a thread. irony, its whats for dinner.

i hate crybaby photographers who make other photographers look like Vaginas, looking for validation of other photographers after a model pisses one off.
