The only way that I would know if the model was a felon is if I was told.

Well, throughout my adult life I have worked with lots and lots of Canadians (here in the US). One thing I noticed is that they all had a great capacity for humor. Is this something that only Canadians that leave their home country have? I must confess that I often wonder if that may be the case when reading some of the postings here in the forum by some of the Canadian photographers. Anyway, please understand that my post was tongue in cheek humor. Please don't take it so seriously that you get your knickers all in a twist. I guess I am just one of those Canadians that does not find gun humor funny my bad

I "met " a new model in town on one of our local facebook groups and we started chatting , She had a good look and told me that she really wanted to shoot some nudes with me to help her develop her modelliing portfolio ,,, later I was chatting with one of my photographer friends about my good fortune and he was the one who googled her and then dropped the bomb on me

I recently had model tell me that she was on probation and couldn't leave her county after I mentioned doing a shoot in a different county. This came after I had already shot her in another adjoining county a month earlier. She seemed to me to be the last parson one would suspect of having any problems.

Chopping one's boyfriend up with a machete is a crime of passion and ergo doesn't count. Crimes of passion usually occur when one is pushed to their limit by the other party. ( the schmuck probably deserved what he got. ) So yeah, I'd shoot her!:-)))

I try to avoid models who are drug users.......period. They simply can't be relied on, to perform well, and there are so many things that can go wrong, when someone is out of their head. Too many potential problems. Glad that your shoot went ok.........but you should recognize that you took a major risk.

A person's past doesn't always reflect who they are at present I am a model with a criminal record and I'm pretty damn professional.

If you only shoot people that have lead perfect lives or haven't done anything wrong in their past, you're not going to be taking a lot of pictures in your life. They'd be boring pictures, too.

I am not sure why you suddenly appear much, much hotter to me... and I haven't even seen your portfolio... I posted earlier in this thread that Levi's video commercial with the "criminal woman"... that was so hot too...

Safety aside, how does the law apply in the case of discrimination ? If you found out, and you cancelled the shoot because of their history .. would that be considered discrimination ? How does the law apply (in canada) towards that? Canadian law allows for somebody not to be hired on the basis of prior criminal convictions. And if it's just a TF shoot, you can cancel the shoot because the model doesn't look like her portfolio, why not a criminal past?

Garry k wrote: Would You shoot with a Model who is a convicted Felon and why or why not ? ( Edit ) And if so - then where would you draw the line in terms of accepting whatever crime they had committed ? Recently I shot with a female model who had just served a 3 year prison sentence for trying to hack her boyfriend to death with a machette In her defense though - She was /is quite beautiful ( joke ) and well - she reportedly was high on drugs when the crime was committed .Also reportedly she was remorseful in the aftermath of the crime A couple of my photographer friends were incredulous that I would do a shoot with such a model and questioned my sanity - To which I replied that I believed in giving most people ( models included ) a second chance in life - if they are truelly remorseful over thier previoous crimintal actions , And also I did not expect any problems from her during the shoot cus my guess was that she is still on parole Anyways the Shoot went well and We had fun PS - No I will not identify this model (even though she is not an MM member ) It would be ok, just don;t make it personal and pry into her past or ask... She may have had a break down or maybe she was a victim of abuse...
