Prince had a very extreme sexual past.  Plus, it is alleged that he went off of his meds.  I'm contracting through a healthcare company so nurses are on staff.  You can die from the flu as the flu has complications like fluid in the lungs.  One woman here told me that someone she knew died from the flu and she was very young.

If Prince had AIDS, the flu would certainly kill him.  We'll find out soon enough.  A lot of people hide HIV & AIDS and Prince was an extremely private person.

Yeah I don't think that's an insane theory at all....I imagine there are many in the entertaiment industry who keep such a diagnosis under cover.
Not that we know this is true but just the same ....he did seem like a very very sexual guy, and like Charlie Sheen one never knows which way the pendulum swings.

RIP Prince

I greatly respected his talent. His "style" or the genre he played in drifted across so many areas of music. I was a fan at times, and at other times he just didnt "reach" me. But regardless  I always respected his talent. Music has indeed lost a great artist.

I wish it wasnt part of human nature to speculate about what caused his death. I wish we could just wait for the facts. But, I guess the media lives and  dies by spawning countless theories... I dunno, maybe it is a part of how we come to terms with the loss...

on a lighter note smile   :

I hate rumors after every celebrity death.  Prince was born a sickly child.  Although he wanted to play basketball, he was small in stature and that is why he took to music.  It's known among those close to Prince that he had Epilepsy.  He also had a heart murmur which can mean other complications.  So he could have died from a lot of things.  It doesn't matter, the fact that he is dead.

I had a young (in her late 20's) friend who was a beautiful. healthy professional dancer with Epilepsy.  I was shocked when she died suddenly. People can die suddenly from heart failure.  Congestive heart failure feels a lot like the flu.  I know because I nearly died from it.   http://radaronline.com/celebrity-news/p … interview/

Charlie Sheen? What do you mean?   He was running around with dozens of prostitutes, and slamming drugs.  A man can get HIV from a female partner, and also from IV drug use.  Especially if he shared needles.

I believe in freedom of religion and I also believe in freedom of speech.

I honestly think the Jehovah's Witness religion is like AA for alcoholics, full of hypocrisy.  Plus, any religion that doesn't believe in medication that you need, or blood for a hip replacement... um, yeah. Pfff

Everyone is entitled to change their mind but to COMPLETELY change your philosophy, your entire basis of what you believe in is very odd to me.  What do you stand for?  Today it's one thing, tomorrow it's the next.

--------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK: A G-rated Prince? It may be hard to believe, but the singer who once provoked shock waves with his X-rated lyrics has sworn off cursing and is preaching about the importance of virtue in the May edition of Gotham magazine.
Prince, who is now a Jehovah's Witness, said that "when you use those (curse) words, you call up all the anger, all the negatives times the word has been used before you bring it toward yourself. Why would you want that?"

http://www.adherents.com/people/pp/Prince.html

The story of his conversion broke in typically surreal fashion last October, when a newspaper in his hometown reported how a married couple had answered their door to find Prince proffering a copy of the Watchtower. Though they were orthodox Jews, and it was Yom Kippur, they were also Prince fans. They welcomed him into the house where, with his friend Larry Graham, erstwhile member of Sly & the Family Stone, one of Prince's core influences, he spread the word of Jehovah for 20 minutes before moving on to the next house.

I would listen to whatever dribble he was talking about if Prince came to my door.

Its not like sleeping with men isnt also considered a risk factor. Charlie sheen admitted to doing so. Possibly prince did also.

I thought the same thing about michael jackson.john lennon also....I had always pictured lennon in my mind as the long haired white suited granny glasses version....I pictured that was the version that died....not until long after he died I saw pics of the 40 year old lennon I couldnt believe it was him.

Excellent review of one of Prince's "lost" artifacts: the 1987 film Sign O' the Times. I still have my ancient VHS copy... the live performance sequences are phenomenally good. It's a real shame that it's almost entirely unavailable in any format these days.

r.i.p. i was never a really big fan, but you couldn't live through the '80s without hearing his music. it was ubiquitous.

i happened to be at one of his least happy moments, as far as performances go. he was one of the opening acts for the stones at the la coliseum, in like (i think it was ) '81. he only made it through like six tunes before he huffed off the stage. plenty of shoes and other objects were being tossed at him.

at the time, i was like "sheesh, i haven't seen anything like this since the mummers had m80s tossed at them". that was at a concert at the old jfk stadium in philadelphia, in the mid '70s.

people always seemed to bring that concert up from time to time, and i could say, "yep, i was there." smile

anyway, r.i.p. even a non-fan can appreciate that he had talent.

They mentioned how many people die  from the flu every year on the radio. But failed to mention exactly what you just wrote. Elderly, the very young, ill people with poor immune systems. Not saying there aren't any freak deaths from the flu. But the drug story makes all the sense in the world. Shame no matter what. He was truly a one of a kind and one of the best damn guitarists/performers, producers, song writers etc etc in my lifetime.

what I wonder is even if it was aids, I'm not sure they would necessarily announce it. maybe at the behest of loved ones they might just list his cause of death as the main symptom....not the overall condition.

I'm willing to bet he got it from sharing needles or takin a jab or two to his ass.  The risk is much lower for the  transmission of HIV in heterosexual  vaginal sex encounters.  Lower slightly for a man to get it from a woman than a woman to get it from a man.   .04% vs .08%

Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM)a represent approximately 2% of the United States population, yet are the population most severely affected by HIV.

Where are the heterosexual men on that graph?  IS that implying all men have sex with other men? I beg to diffuh  smile

"The authors found that, overall, female-to-male (.04% per act or, in theory, about 4 cases of HIV transmission per every 10,000 acts of vaginal sex with a woman who is HIV positive) and male-to-female (.08% per act or 8 cases of HIV transmission per every 10,000 acts of vaginal sex with a man who is HIV positive) transmission estimates in high-income countries show a low risk of infection even when the person with HIV is not on antiretroviral treatments."

Just sharing the part of the  article I found.  When my wife and I got married we had to take an HIV class, the Dr asked how many of us shared needles , how many had sex with other men or engaged in high risk activities etc. He then went on to tell us the chances of getting HIV is very minimal for heterosexual couples. Made me fell a little more at ease for my wild years after my first marriage. smile

I never heard of a couple 'having' to take an HIV class!?!

Anyhoo, to answer your question, maybe the CDC chose to lay out the information as such to drive home a point?

https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/images/basics/statistics/statistics-basics-new-infections-by-category.png

If we look at HIV diagnoses by how people got the virus (transmission category), we see that gay and bisexual men are most at risk. In 2014, gay and bisexual men accounted for 67% of all new HIV diagnoses. In the same year, individuals infected through heterosexual sex made up 24% of all new HIV diagnoses.

well even the medical industry must consider it more risky, since whenever I would go to the clinic to get one of those on the spot HIV tests one of the opening questions was asking if I had ever had male to male sex... I mean why ask anything if its all an even playing field.

Must be a Michigan thing. Not sure if it was an HIV class, but it was some kind of pre marital class at a hosital with a Dr who talks about HIV.   smile

I think it's a brilliant idea.  I just am curious why they give that to couples who would be more prone to monogamy (shouldn't you be if you're married? lol) than single people being sexually active, esp. with multiple partners.

It is common knowledge that anyone can get infected even if they have sex with just one person and their partner only had sex with one other person.  I use horse-sense:  I figure if HIV and AIDS is greater amongst the gay and bi-sexual community I can make the conclusion that heterosexual sex is safer.  I also figure that the less partners one has makes that person safer to have sex with as well.

To me, it's not sexy to engage in risky sexual behavior.  Being extremely sexual very, very good... and it's a completely different ideology.

I was watching the videos some of you put up about songs that he wrote for others......and was amazed to find all the other great songs he wrote like manic monday.

I am always amazed when artists write amazing songs and just hand them off without any fanfare to others.  writing a great catchy song has to be very difficult....yet there are some people like prince who are so talented...rather than covet them for himself...he thinks....well there will be more...and just gives them away.
