plastic silver spraypaint isn't expensive, would be about the same cost as the double sided tape and the file combined.

I think it looks great, only changes I would make would be me 4~5 inch pvc holding the middle rather than plastic for sturdiness and also blocking light leakage into the lens chamber.

I'm gonna look into getting larger and softer tuppa wear materials for the next one for more flexibility in the plastic. Will stick with the foil.

yea thats another possiblity but as we know the backward light will not affect anything.

The amount of like coming out the back cuts down on the amount of light pressure forcing the light forward. It's just photons but it works just like a water hose. If you try to direct water from a hose in one direction and there are leaks along the hose or even at the nozzle it cuts down on the amount of water that makes it to your target.

Those photons may not show up in the image when they are coming out the back, but then if they came out the front they might.

ma-ma-ma-ma-McGyver, what you doin with that thing?

Very cool, they are way more impressive in discussion and in catalogs than in person...

I was fascinated by ringflash until I saw a friend with one and didn't care for it that much, it's definitely not worth $1,000 and I can see why someone would be trying to sell a hot ring or ring flash system after owning one.

OK how much did you spend to make the "homemade" ring light ?

How long did it take for you to make the "homemade" ring light ?

What is you time worth per hour ?

Was it worth it ?

I know there is the "fun" factor in making your own ring light but ......

Please bear in mind that you will not have any of the TTL functions that are either synced or taken from the flash sensor. You will have to set it to manual and adjust the intensity of the burst.

If you used a TTL flash and a remote off-camera TTL synch cord, couldn't you take advantage of the TTL features?

You could be right, but i'm not that experienced with TTL to comment on that.
I also don't use TTL in my professional shots.

Kick myself?  Nah, not really.  First time ever using lighting other than the 580EX on my camera...

Rented for $35, so not a huge investment...  smile
