...and this is why I don't eat fast food anymore. I just found out that the McRib isn't made of meat at all. Instead, it's made of: • Pork tripe • Heart • Scalded stomach McDonald's moto should be, "Let's put shit on bread and see if they'll eat it." ~ Sam Kinison.

Tripe in a tomato based sauce, much like pasta, made by an old country Italian woman is superb stuff to eat. I don't put giblets in my gravy either John, I eat them first.

Um - point of order, your honor you realize that tripe and stomach is - the same thing. Tripe as a term is usually reserved for ruminant stomachs. - In pigs the term is "paunch" The heart is a muscle - stomach is mostly muscle. Muscle is meat. So, it's made of meat - even if heart and paunch were the base ingredients. I was thinking that the claim was being made - it was made from recycled 2 liter bottles and glow worm peckers. But, it's still vile to eat - just one of the most nasty things that McD has ever slopped out there. I had one as a kid and just could not believe it was that bad - so I tried another - thinking the first one was just a bad day. Urp.. I was wrong - the 2nd one was just as bad.

Well, the fact that the McRib is shaped like ribs (with the bones) yet is doesn't have any bones in it should be the first clue for most people. It's just "meat" put in a mold that's shaped liked ribs- similar to what they do with some dog treats.....or hotdogs.

I bought one the other day for old times sake, and after not particularly liking it after a few bites I started taking it apart and eating it that way. What I discovered was I hated the bread, hated the sauce, hated the onions..... and thought the meat was quite good and tasted just like ribs. So go figure.

Not only that, it's called "Restructured Meat" McDonalds uses BRAINWASHING TECHNIQUES to get the public to buy their crap, and it works! If anyone else made a rib product that didn't come from a rib they'd be shut down by the FTC and possibly even the FDA, but good old McDonalds has a slew of lawyers and lobbyists that let them skirt the law as they see fit. Many of my friends won't eat at Asian restaurants because they'll truthfully list the ingredients in some of their meals, and some of the products turn off most Americans... but the same shitheads that complain about 'innards' being used in Asian meals will go out and scarf down McRib and any other McMeal that the corporation has them BRAINWASHED into eating.

It's not too long ago that things like that were eaten regularly by people like you and me. I still eat organmeat occasionally. The idea that we should throw that away is just so sad to me... I mean, why? You CAN eat it, obviously you have in the past, it doesn't taste bad, it IS meat (organmeat). So just because it's an organ it's filth and garbage and should be thrown away? What kind of sad ubercapitalistic world do we live in??? if you want to eat ribs, go to a restaurant and order ribs. I don't know why you would think the mcRib would give you the same thing as actually eating ribs, but that's a different story altogether... But the things you mention are meat, and food, and should not just be thrown away because people have completely lost their connection to what it means to kill and eat an animal.

I agree and have no problem eating organ meat. Some types of organ meat are actually pretty good. The thing is McDonalds is trying to pass of the McRib as being made from something that most people think is a premium product, and it's not. It's flat out false advertising/representation.... except that they put a notice in tiny tiny letters that indicate that it's only a patty made in the shape of a rib. If you don't have coke bottle type of glasses, you'll never be able to read that fine print though.

He must not each much ethnic food either, because other cultures (meaning many non white cultures) still eat all that stuff. Mexican, Chinese, Black American, Vietnamese, etc etc. I don't eat it, but I don't freak out when I see coworkers eating it!

Anna, Jebbia loves getting under people's skin. Don't let him do it. I don't doubt that he has the palate of a 5 year old. But I think he is doing whole Americans are too good to eat organ meat to push people's buttons.

One time I suggested that we eat liver for dinner, and he got all "ew how can you eat that"... not realizing that he's been eating liversausage on his sandwiches since he was a kid (and the thing is actually called liversausage...surprisingly he never made the connection that it was made from actual liver :p) I think people have gotten way too detached from the food we get on our plate. If we feel comfortable eating meat, then we should be able to deal with the fact that it comes from an animal, instead of pretending there are trees out there that grow unrecognizable patches of red food.

Country-Style pork ribs are sold in nearly every grocery store in the south & mid-central states. Everyone knows it is cut from the pig's shoulder and is not actual rib meat. btw, they call it a McRib, not a rib sandwich. Anyone with enough IQ to dress themselves and safely eat with a fork realizes that it is a formed meat patty. As for containing organ meat, a common saying about pigs is that you can eat everything but the squeal!

The mcrib is fucking disgusting. Yet somehow McDonald's through their marketing genius get people riled up once a year to eat a diarrhea sandwich forgetting that its a diarrhea sandwich cause it only comes out ONCE A YEAR. They create demand and mystery to a sandwich that isn't even fit for a rabid toad. It's horrible.
