I've been using them for about two years, and I love 'em. I have 2 1000 watt, and 5 300 watt lights with stands, soft boxes, and umbrellas....all interfit.

Both of my 1000 watt lights just quit about 3 months ago (out of warranty.) I found out later that this was due to fluctuating power sources. Interfit replaced both lights with brand new units at no charge to me. They even paid the shipping. I'm an Interfit guy for life!

I have two 300 watt units with a lot of their other branded items. Never had a misfire or a problem with them so far.  I also have two sets of Normans.

The difference is the power pack is necessary with the Normans and you don't have to mess with that on the Interfits. I suppose it doens't make any difference to someone who uses them all the time, but I prefer Normans when I am shooting film and Interfits with the digital cameras. Just easier for me personally to deal with I guess.

I would say that is a good deal in retrospect. I didn't buy mine, I traded for an old calumet 4x5.

I own 1 set and want to but another. I love mine - they're a great, lower cost alternative and I've never had a problem or misfire either.

At the top of the forum there's a thread entitled Photography Talk: Rules, Resources and FAQ. In that thread, there are links to key MM threads. One of those is the Lighting, Flash, Ring, & Battery Strobe Reference thread, which has a large section on What Lights to Buy.

My friend with a mall studio has used his Interfits day in and out for 4 years .
They seem to hold up for him .   They get a bad rap in reviews but then you read from most owners of them they are happy.  I think they had a bad run off of one of their models at one time but that was straightened out?

The construction on them seem to be moderately heavy duty on his 1000s .  The actually feel better constructed than AB 400s that I have seen.

I personally dont own any.

The stands are a bit flimsy, as are a lot of the accessories, so I'm not sure they'd take regular banging about, but I think the Interfit range, including the hotlights, are very good value for what they are.

I use them.

Interfits are great lights for the money. I use 2 300 watt strobes for studio and 3 vivitar 285s shoe flashes for outdoors. Remember it is really not what light or strobes you have that make your shots great its knowing how to use your lighting techniques. I would say most photog doe not use all their strobes at full power.
