Yeah, we actually got implicitly promoted to the level of very very experienced photographers, based on portfolio comparison. ;-)

OP does it every few months.

If you are a fan of the Don Rickles 'Celebrity Roast' style of humor then this thread is for you....OP is a master of the style.

Check this out!:

You'll notice that most of what Rickles says has a ring of truth to it...

The fun part is waiting for somebody to make a butt-hurt reply wink

wow, interesting "work flow."
as a rule, for me:
Commercial shoot -my clients tell me when we shoot; ad or client rep is at shoot reviewing images as we shoot, talent shows up, does what is needed and leaves;  client gets final edited shots next day (if not sooner.)
Stock shoot - I set schedule and location, talent shows up, does what is needed and leaves;  agency editor gets quick selects for review within a few days, I get reply with selects within about a week and return final editied files asap for final digital approval
Personal shoot - Talent shows up, does what is needed and leaves;  talent gets final edited files within a week.

lol i have a job besides shooting that only allows for editing in my off time. which is prob one day out of my off days. just shooting for fun and personal projects now.

Please, I beg you. Go to Abercrombie and Fitch, look at the posters, buy something just so you cna get a free shopping bag. That is well shot fabulous male erotica, go buy a Bruce Weber book.

You have  some nice images, but you don't need all the bad full frontal shots, they are just GWC images.

Go edit out 90% of what you have and come back. By the way, there are some better shots in your list " a few more of mine" again, seeing it all does NOT make it a good photo it does not make it a bad photo, either)

Finally, someone who gets it. No one, not even I, give a shit what I say. I stand behind everything I have said and am confident that I have been factually accurate in 99% of what I have said, I am sure I have made a mistake here and there but it is meant to be amusing and honest.

Sorry, GWC

Yes I do, every few months I try to throw some light on the BS that is MM. Again, no one should care what I say, either you believe it and agree with what I say or you don't.

I wish you could point out a single case where I am wrong in my reply. I will gradly admit it if I am wrong.

I am not in any way offended by the concept your kill series, I am offened at how poorly it is done.

Have you ever seen a decent photo let alone a great photo? now compare an even tolerable one to yours. I rest my case, of every page I have looked at, I am more certain of my assessment of yours than possibly any other.

There is never a 'wrong' when people get roasted...that's the beauty of it! It's a big reason these threads are so popular.

Don Rickles was never 'wrong' when he tore strips off of Sinatra, Hope, Reagan, et al....they all had a laugh at their own expense/weaknesses smile

However, I doubt any of Rickles' 'victims' would have wanted to trade places with him...afterall, roasting was Rickles' only real claim to fame (and he was EXCELLENT at it) smile

Seriously, I am intrigued. Why did you take the photos you have? Were you paid by the subjects? did you do it to learn something Do you just like looking at naked and semi-naked women, all are fine reasons, but I can't see a thing in any of the photos that is interesting.

I used to think I was getting better.  Then a few weeks ago, I had a chance to hold some Brett and Edward Weston images in my hands.  What an exhilerating experience and then a total let down because now I think most of my stuff looks like amaturish crap.

Is there any hope for me?

why do you have so many photos from each shoot, if you can't pick the best than none are good enough.

Thank you, someone understands. In my beadroom is Sumo (Helmut Newton,) on my walls are original František Drtikol photo post cards (printed ca 1925, I wish I could afford larger sized vintage pieces of his) one original Avedon photo and more. These make me think that my work is total crap (as you say.) I do however know that I can go out on any assignment under any conditions, and come back with a professionaly shot, properly managed photo. I hold NO false beliefs about my skills, I wish I could shoot 1% as well as Bruce Weber, Joel-Peter Witkin, Bernd and Hilla Becher and dozens of others. That does not mean that I (nor anyone else who has asked for comments here) should stop shooting. My only wish is that many more on MM would be honest and realistic about their talents. There is no sin in having a crappy day (unless you are being paid for the shoot and then nothing less than professional work is acceptable) but it is scary how many comments there are on mm with words of profundity such as "a masterpiece" "this belongs in a museum" "absolutely PERFECT"....

As to you, if you would thin the number of photos to your best 10 you would look a million times better.

Not bad for what you shoot, keep on shooting, keep on looking at Weston or whoever else YOU respect and you can only improve. Others here can bury their heads in the sand and you can be sure of where they will end up.

I'm following this thread with delight because of what I saw as comic genius on your part, and it turns out you do this because 'fluffy' comments irritate you????

Egad...feels like finding out Hans Gruber was doing it just for the money..  smile

Anyway, I'm disappointed by your confessed reasons for creating these threads, but I still think you are funny....
