Stock shoot - I set schedule and location, talent shows up, does what is needed and leaves; agency editor gets quick selects for review within a few days, I get reply with selects within about a week and return final editied files asap for final digital approval Personal shoot - Talent shows up, does what is needed and leaves; talent gets final edited files within a week. jpb lol i have a job besides shooting that only allows for editing in my off time. which is prob one day out of my off days. just shooting for fun and personal projects now.

That is well shot fabulous male erotica, go buy a Bruce Weber book. You have some nice images, but you don't need all the bad full frontal shots, they are just GWC images. Go edit out 90% of what you have and come back. By the way, there are some better shots in your list " a few more of mine" again, seeing it all does NOT make it a good photo it does not make it a bad photo, either)

Again, no one should care what I say, either you believe it and agree with what I say or you don't. I wish you could point out a single case where I am wrong in my reply. I will gradly admit it if I am wrong.

It's a big reason these threads are so popular. Don Rickles was never 'wrong' when he tore strips off of Sinatra, Hope, Reagan, et al....they all had a laugh at their own expense/weaknesses However, I doubt any of Rickles' 'victims' would have wanted to trade places with him...afterall, roasting was Rickles' only real claim to fame (and he was EXCELLENT at it)

I used to think I was getting better. Then a few weeks ago, I had a chance to hold some Brett and Edward Weston images in my hands. What an exhilerating experience and then a total let down because now I think most of my stuff looks like amaturish crap. Is there any hope for me?

What an exhilerating experience and then a total let down because now I think most of my stuff looks like amaturish crap. Is there any hope for me? Thank you, someone understands. In my beadroom is Sumo (Helmut Newton,) on my walls are original František Drtikol photo post cards (printed ca 1925, I wish I could afford larger sized vintage pieces of his) one original Avedon photo and more. These make me think that my work is total crap (as you say.) I do however know that I can go out on any assignment under any conditions, and come back with a professionaly shot, properly managed photo. I hold NO false beliefs about my skills, I wish I could shoot 1% as well as Bruce Weber, Joel-Peter Witkin, Bernd and Hilla Becher and dozens of others. That does not mean that I (nor anyone else who has asked for comments here) should stop shooting. My only wish is that many more on MM would be honest and realistic about their talents. There is no sin in having a crappy day (unless you are being paid for the shoot and then nothing less than professional work is acceptable) but it is scary how many comments there are on mm with words of profundity such as "a masterpiece" "this belongs in a museum" "absolutely PERFECT".... As to you, if you would thin the number of photos to your best 10 you would look a million times better. Not bad for what you shoot, keep on shooting, keep on looking at Weston or whoever else YOU respect and you can only improve. Others here can bury their heads in the sand and you can be sure of where they will end up.
