Hey,
I've recently been asked to do a shoot by suicide girls, but I have heard both good and bad press on them. Anyone know the deal about them now?

All you need to know about SG can be found in these threads

Do a search of Suicide Girls here on the MM Fora.

You can also do a search on Google (as SG is hardly unique to MM.)

The issue has been discussed about 1000 times here on the site and there are stories all over the internet about them.

The bottom line appears to be that for a long time, many photographers refused to shoot with them, as a result of SG's contracts or because of litigation relating to their contracts.

Some have changed their minds.  Some have not.

Some people hate them.  Some love them.  Some simply tolerate them. Some don't have any opinion whatsoever.

Seriously - go search the subject.  You'll find lots.

(But please resist the urge to revive an old thread, for no reason, if you don't have a novel question to ask.)

Wouldn't recommend it for many reasons but do your homework.
You have a gorgeous look but I would hate for you to be under contract and loose out on tons of amazing work you will get outside of SG, including me  wink

You don't have the SG look and last time I looked SG did not pay very well either. You are better off doing your own thing and please do not go all ink crazy on us. You look fine just the way you are.

You sure? what about shooting for competing websites tho? I still understand their contract is very rough and limiting.

yes please keep your skin ink free, at least for a while. It is very hard now days to find unmarked gorgeous figures like yours... it may benefit you in the art world, I am always looking for inkless nudes for my fine art projects

This.  There are also plenty of other sites that are way better than SG.

SG doesn't have a "look."  There are girls with no tattoos or piercings and brunette hair on that site, but that's not the point.

If you want to do any Alt Porn and get treated/paid well for doing it, you're much better off being a GodsGirl.

For the first three posters in this thread, the OP, Phil and Stephen, I want to point out the following:

As to their application in the UK, the agreements that SG require, likely both from the models and more specifically in respect of the photographers, they are apparently contrary public policy [in the UK] in several respects. As such, they may be either void on their face or non-enforceable, at least in the English courts... but that would not stop SG from making your life miserable if they chose to do so.

Caution is advised if you are dealing with them here.

Last time I looked, what they said in their FAQs did not match what was in the contract.
Of course, only the contract matters.
Read it carefully. Understand what it means. Consider how it will affect you.
Then decide.

Do you have a solicitor friend who would look at their contracts?

Once he stops laughing and gasping and shaking his head, he'll say you shouldn't get involved with SG.

I have actually read and understand their contracts. It would take a legal treatise to explain all the unfairness ... but I would have nothing to do with them as a model or photographer.

Your beautiful look and minimal ink mean the door is open to excellent opportunities. are you a page 3 girl yet? Working with SG will drive away potential photographers and opportunities.

Yeah, it's terribly annoying. Like, if you don't like tattoos, just book a model who doesn't have any. It's really not that hard.

The contracts have changed. Decide you don't want to model for SG anymore? You can go model wherever you want. Same for photographers. No time restrictions.
The site has tattooed and untattooed models, pink-haired models and natural brunette models, skinny girls and plus sized women. It also has consistently some of the best nude photography out there.
And don't get me started on GodsGirls, you mean the site that ripped off SG so completely, they even had and "SG" logoed background for 24 hours? Right...

I will never allow my photos to be submitted to SG no matter what their current or future contract says just because of what it was before. I believe that they can never be trusted.

As I just said in another thread dragged up from the dead.  The name tells you all you need to know, for a professional photographer its professional suicide.  Even if the contracts have changed to not try and basically steal from the photographers its a horrible idea.

The pay is nothing (or maybe now almost nothing) and there is heavy guilt by association.  It will only even be seen as a negative for the photographer, be nothing they can use for their book, and probably be best shot under an assumed name.  Doesn't sound like a win.

Granted I can't speak to the model side, but if the site is going to scare off any photographer with skill or potential...

+1000 NO INK PLEASE.  Do you want to be a model or a Canvas?

Tattoos limit you as a model. SG is a very small niche and most of t he time that kind of content does not sell well. It's alternative, meaning NOT main stream. There are more mainstream jobs that's why it's called mainstream.

SG has changed in many ways... go for it!

Read their contract, if you agree, then do it.

The only opinion that matters is yours.

People keep saying it's changed, but, uh...the one on the website still has all the things to which people object. They own your entire brand, and they have 2 years exclusivity from the termination of an automatically renewing contract...
