Email Scams for job offers
I'm slightly disturbed that we apparently need to "warn" each other about the specific names the scammers are using. That is ALWAYS going to change, because the name is made up and irrelevant. I'm glad you're googling when you get these but learn to identify the signs of a scam and not rely on whether someone has already posted a thread about "so and so." Hence, you are to portray a photographic character to display these products on several photo shoot sessions for its end product and expectations. DATE/SHOOTING DURATION & LOCATION. *Date: Fri. 12th April.2013 at exactly 10:00am running through 5:00pm. Copy and paste the e-mail that you get along with the word scam into google and usually you will find out if it is a scam or not. I think that there was a list somewhere here on MM that someone started of running scams too if I recall. Just because something is not on a list though doesn't mean its not a scam. And here we are again, calling for an upcoming commercial products Ad shoot for a starting-up client to market small and medium sizes of Cleaning Solutions nationwide. Shoot Purpose: This is a commercial/product Shoot assignment to showcase or features different brands, small and medium sizes of Cleaning Solutions nationwide. It intends featuring a large collection of new products from various sources and manufacturers; to be displayed in an online Classified ad, Pamphlets, Billboards, Hand bills and Calendars. Our obligation in respect to this piece of project is to generate some marketable images to feature these items, where a model will pose with the various products and sizes to exhibiting a photographic character/language able to attract and call consumer's attention. It is very simple and works the same as any typical promotional or commercial photo shoot. The end product from the photo shoot is an online classified ad, Pamphlets, Billboards and Calendars that would convince the public to make these collection a choice among others. Event Date Notice: you're to check your availability and choose the best date feasible for you between; November 13 and 15, 2014 which is the idea shoot date scheduled for your City. Please note that any day you pick cannot be changed later on except the changes is made a week before the shoot. Location/Venue of event: the event is taking place in your City; we're making a new arrange for a suitable Studio/arena within your City for the event and you'll receive the location detail and driving direction as soon as the venue is confirmed. My crew and I will tour your locality for the shoot so you need not to travel far from your base. Compensation: Paid ($130.00/hr.), a duration for Six (6) hours shoot/gig plus free lunch and models will receive copies of photo shoot via Dropbox or on CD. Getting unsolicited emails is immediately suspicious, especially the first sentence as I had never posted my contact information publicly. I have not responded to this email, but on a similar note: I had responded to a vague voicemail I received last week where the caller had not identified himself. He just said that they were looking for the model by the name of: ----------- and directing to call back as soon as possible regarding work. I had called them back, the call was rejected. I then naively followed up with a text message stating who I was and to what this was regarding and who they were as I wasn't able to reach them by phone. The one thing that I should have realized that when they called, they indicated my name vs. my modeling name. Only those I have worked with would also know my name due to model releases, so I then checked with them if they had distributed my number to other parties. Not more than a week later, the same voice on a different number left me another voicemail with the same tune, except this time looking for the model by the name of 'my modeling name'. On the same day, a few hours apart, the email above was found in my inbox. I would also like to indicate the two phone numbers (773-904-3120) and (773-657-6925) I now know to be scammers (although I know they will just continue calling now from other numbers), but I don't answer a call unless it is programmed in my phone.
