Hi All,

I finely decided on a model to sponsor. Her name is Jessica. MM # 2690710
We're looking forward to sailing and shooting with all of you very soon! If it's even half as fun as last year I'll be doing handstands. :-)

Cheers!

Just testing brevity and concision and determining error rate. Possible shorter is better...to a point.

Couldn't help but notice that this model, which Gary has listed on page 1 as seeking sponsor, has upgraded to VIP, competes in POTD, has passport, has used it, has wide operating range, is within hour drive of dock, pleasant personality, looks good! ;-)

Down with bureaucracy, wow, I think I spelled it right without google's help, not sure that is a good thing.

So sorry to hear this

Just shot with this model on 9/11/2013 and hereby nominate/recommend/suggest for consideration. I've not even told her I'm doing this recommendation. [Update: just sent her MM mail advising her of this unilateral recommendation. Her profile says she has bad case of wanderlust and flexible schedule.]

Fun to work with. Playful with piano. Wide dynamic range in terms of facial expressions. Probably passport ready.

Probably won't be able to get off from school but that doesn't obviate the fact that she's a great model! LOL.

[OK, time to end message...big words that tend to irritate small minds starting to exude from my vocabulary. :-)].

Hi Wonderful People,

Rumor has it that I am going to be attending this shoot and this trip, this go round, and though I am currently in the California area and I know you will all have a wonderful time--- Id hate to be made out as a flake or have Gary having upset people at him, so Im just posting to let you know that Im not signed up to be on this trip.

Im happy to be brought in to work future Select Model Shoots and Events they bring many, many people together in a positive way--- so hating to disappoint, but it sounds like some words are floating around to set me up to look like a no show for this event, when Im not a sign up.

Hope you guys will keep me in mind for future projects and ideas ---I love being part of your creativity--- and I certainly enjoy Garys events.

I am available to shoot one on one, here in Cali, and welcome anyone who wishes to shoot to reach on out ---Id love to be part of that! For locations: Gary has a great studio for rent or we can shoot anywhere thats safe and comfortable to get creative

--- but I will not be on the cruise.

Wish you all fun! and I look forward to seeing some of the awesome shots and hearing of your adventures.

Hugz,
CK

I'm actually GLAD it's lower... last year's huge group of 60+ models and photographers was alittle too hard to manage for just ONE person.  No cell phone coverage and no walkie-talkie service (unless you were on the same floor of the ship) made staying in communication almost impossible.  This year's cruise ticket price is also over $100 higher, while the economy remains alittle weaker.  Very few models and photographers were ever in their room or answered their room phones.  I'm looking forward to a lot more productivity and alittle less drama... wink

Gary,

Would we have time to do this after docking?  Looks like you'll have to take a short boat ride to get to this location.

Wellllllllllllllllllllllll... I did alittle more investigating into shooting at Las Maritas... especially after watching that video.  One thing you must be aware of... if you visit that location during a high tide... there's NO BEACH to shoot on.  The island becomes nothing but a rock formation, and you must either dive in with your camera gear, or boat around the rock formations and hope to find a very small stretch of sand to accomedate your models and equipment.

It would be IDEAL for an 'in the water' or underwater shoot, but the island's general layout would NOT facilitate even a small group if the tide wasn't agreeable.
Watch that video and see what I mean.  To spend the kind of money (easily $400 to $500) for (group) boating expenses to the island, and not find a suitable beach to shoot at would be very frustrating, and would probably result in lots of pissed shoot participants.  I'm thinkin that's probably why 'Sports Illustrated' or any other organized shooting expedition has NOT been attempted there.

It is for that reason that's I'm probably going to recommend a 'no shoot decision' for Las Maritas.  Checkout this video and you'll probably draw the same conclusion I have... hmm... let me know what you think... thanks!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRogSGL0qVw

(checkout runtime at 2:35 and you'll see what I mean)

Togs,

Something Gary mentioned reminded me to suggest caution with cameras around water. Most aren't built with interaction with water in mind.

Water proofing might be desirable else you could lose a camera to wave or dunking it in water. :-(.

With models already outnumbering togs, this has an adverse impact on fire power and togs become even further outgunned. Plus it further increases the total cost of each image.

:-)

Yeah... i was kind of feeling the same way, AFTER i had watched the video.   Not really prepared for a "shooting FROM the water view" or even a shooting FROM a little boat.
