Hey Mark... checked out your flickr page... great shots amigo.  Only problematic thing I'm seeing is a boost in your editing techique that I'M SURE will aid in rendering a better end result.  I can help you out if you like with a sample edit of one of your images... wink

Hi Gary,

Thanks for looking over the images. Sure, I appreciate any input or help I can get! What kind of image file would you like?

so i did not have a single photographer ask for my information, nor did anyone ask me to sign a release (lesson learned, i will be sure to have plenty with me in the future!). at group shoots my understanding is that typically it is $10 a release, $20 for nudes. so this leaves me with two thoughts.

1. either no one is interested in using photos of me in their port (which occasionally happens, not all photogs have an MM and not all photos are port worthy. perfectly understandable, not at all insulting)
OR
2. no one felt my skills were worth $10 for a release. this IS insulting sad

is this a misunderstanding on my part? would be happy for input (and gary, we of course are good, thanks for dinner and a place to crash! LOVE the photo!!! can't wait to see it posted=)

Don't feel too bad, I think I am the only model that has not had their picture posted.

hi all!! so essentially since this last weekend i came unprepared i am going to say that the releases were my fault. i think a lot of times too these group shoots are fairly lax and most people do not worry about them, so i think it is really up to the model or the photog and what their goals are. here is the decision that i have made - since i am a PROFESSIONAL model i would like to ask that a release be purchased in order to use my image. while i realize that nearly none of the photos taken at any group shoot are with the intent to make money, i would feel more comfortable this way knowing bases are covered. i don't think i explained that very well though sad
anyway, what i now have my own release and will be sure at future group shoots to have plenty with me!! in the meantime i have set it up on my website where you can buy a release using paypal. i would essentially sign and scan one over to you. that way your bases are covered too for when i make it big and you pull out those old photos and want to sell them to the tabloids ;D
you can find releases for sale here:
http://www.jinntonic.com/contact-info---book-me.html

like i said though, since it was my error in not having releases with me, i am going to chalk this up as "my bad" lol and am not worried about it. it was wonderful meeting you all (and seeing some of my cruise friends!) and i love all the photos i have seen thus far!
thanks guys!!

Thanks Gary. I see that you added color back to her skin smile I blew the exposure on this shot trying to get enough detail in the dark woods behind her that I didn't leave enough for her skin.

You're welcome... I cropped it (all that light foreground rock was distracting), sharpened the image slightly and removed some contrast to pickup some contour and density in her fleshtone... very fast and easy to do in PhotoBrush 5.0... wink

I've been wondering too.
When I use the "Quote" feature on a someone else's pic post I see the coding.
It seems I need to have previously uploaded the image to a web accessible place. Gary seems to use PhotoBucket. I use Picasa. I could create a special folder in Picasa solely for MM posting purposes.
Therefore I think I can replace the section of Gray's BBcode with my link and it should post the pic. Will try later when I'm fully awake.

5000? You should be happy about that! The extra resolution is producing some real nice fineness in the hair and face, on this one and your previous ones. Looking forward to see more from the D600. You may convert me.

Convert you?... hmm... just might end up seeing your Sony at the Buena Park Camera Swapmeet huh... lol... cause those Sony cams are BIGTIME noisy at anything over 1000 ISO... wink

Yes, they are. But they have other qualities which I find desirable, such as color rendition and in-body stabilization (for what it's worth), excellent ergonomics and engineering, plus access to CZ zoom lenses. So my mission always with the Sony cameras is to find good lighting. If I can stay under 800 ISO the Sonys do very well. A lot of bang for the buck in my opinion.

I have a question: I ran into an old friend in OC who has a big collection of manual focus Nikon lenses from the 70's. He's no longer into photography. Will those lenses fit on modern Nikon DSLR bodies?

Yep... those lenses will fit and they're usually very sharp.  I'd grab a few of those if you plan on jumping the Sony ship... wink

He has a collection of a half doz F2 bodies, but only manual focus lenses, including the big mama telephotos, including the 1000mm! I took pics of of everything. When I get them loaded to my zenfolio, I'll send you the link. I didn't ask him yet if he wants to sell, but he might be persuaded. And the interesting thing is, he started photography while he was in the military. Sound familiar? He was also the official photographer of the Huntington Beach car show for 7 years. His favorite lens for cars was the Nikon 20mm prime.
