Let's see your photos (w/models) at famous places!
I would love to see some daring images created by folks using models at famous/recognizable locations (inside or outside). I'd even like to create a list for it. I can't recall any I've seen on MM, but I'm sure they exist, so I'd love to see them. I'm not talking about snapshots or tourist photos - I mean actual planned professional style photos with a model in front of a location that would be recognized...you know, like on the 50 yd line of an NFL stadium field, Graceland, the Playboy Mansion, Golden Gate Bridge, Machu Pichu, the Empire State Building, Bonneville Salt Flats, Times Square, the Kremlin, the Taj Mahal, the White House, whatever... I shoot a lot of nudes, so of course, that would make it even more daring to see, so please roll those out, too. I'm not expecting anything illegal or mind-blowing here...just would like to see what you all have come up with. Include some back story, too! I'll start with one that didn't involve a *ton* of risk (easy for me to say, since I wasn't the one laying naked on a highway in the middle of the desert), but there was enough traffic coming and going that it took probably an hour to get prepped and get this shot. It's a recognizable location--Monument Valley in Utah (variations of this landscape scene have graced the covers of a lot of U.S. travel guides): 18+ I'd love to see yours, too! EDIT TO ADD: I did find one I added to my list - Gary Breckheimer and Rebecca Lawrence across from Radio City Music Hall in NYC (added to my list). I'm sure he has more, but didn't see any specifically in his MM portfolio. Heavy overcast killed most of the light. Had a close encounter with a jogger, but no real troubles to talk about. New York Stock Exchange, New York: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/26362236 Back story: Fairly slow weekend day around noon. Small crowd nearby. Cop halfway down the block didn't pay us any attention. Times Square, New York NSFW 18+: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30125311 Back story: Easy as pie. While waiting for the model to arrive, a young woman tourist posed in the chair, getting a big laugh out of it. For the real shoot, we planned four exposures, two each (horz and vert) of two poses. From first exposure to last took 18 seconds. Model was disappointed no one seemed to notice. (We shot later on a full subway car, and she got applause, which seemed to make up for her Times Square disappointment.) Brooklyn Bridge, New York NSFW 18+: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/30125290 Back story: Took about 10 minutes for the bridge to be clear enough of passersby to shoot without people getting between me and the model. Less than five minutes after we finished, the diabetes walk came across the bridge, flooding it wall-to-wall with thousands of people. Fenway Park, Boston NSFW 18+: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/29254758 Back story: Two different state cops stopped and questioned us, and then told us we were OK. Massachusetts State House, Boston NSFW 18+: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/29062728 Back story: Early morning on a weekend, but the Common was busier than expected. Waited for a gap in the flow of people. Rhode Island State House, Providence NSFW 18+: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/28895738 Back story: None. Place was deserted. Model and I joked we could have shot a full-fledged orgy with no one noticing. Oct 14 12 11:14 am Link Nice! Want more! Come on, people! It's almost cheating in NYC since it's legal to be nude to pose. But that Brooklyn Bridge shot with all those people in it would have been amazing if you had waited! The Arch one was a nice steal. Oct 15 12 02:59 am Link You tell ME where this place is... Oct 15 12 03:14 am Link Good stuff - keep them coming. But to be more specific, like with the Golden gate Bridge, I was hoping more for something shot ON the bridge, not just as a background (otherwise, any city scape would be considered). Or ON the Eiffel Tower, etc. I have to admit, some of those buildings I don't recognize. They just look like generic storefronts to me. I think the touristy-ness of the photos depends how you shoot them. With Ashely's (above), it doesn't appear tourist-y to me....maybe because she's nude, and therefore doesn't come across as a snapshot, per se. I realize many 'famous' places probably require permits to shoot in them or in front of them, and that may be why it's tougher to get a shot like that--takes more planning than a guerilla/spontaneous shoot. Oct 15 12 08:47 am Link The Golden Gate is my favorite West Coast bridge. (I'll let you guess which is my favorite on the East Coast. ) Would love to see it more prominently in photos that fit this category. Oct 15 12 09:01 pm Link Eiffel Tower, 3am, early June. There were still quite a few people around and so it took about 40 minutes of hanging about before we felt comfortable going for it. Even then a couple of passing taxi drivers got a good view! We took this shot during the winter, when the location is pretty much devoid of people.
