Main light is camera right. Rim light is camera left behind the model.

I used several speedlights on this one. 2 inside the softbox, camera right, one each, left & right 45 degree behind her to outline her body & to light her hair. And another flash (with CTO) to give those grasses & some trees some warm color ...

"Best" is subjective, but this is one of my favourites from a couple of years ago.

SB-900 in a 43" octabox on a boom held above her and to the right a bit by my buddy John standing knee deep in the freezing cold River Lune. smile

I think all of the above were YN460II flashes... might be a Sunpak 622 tossed in there somewhere.

Single speed light with shoot through umbrella, camera right, about 8 ft. from model.

Single speed light with shoot through umbrella, camera right with umbrella about 7 feet up pointing downward with stand maybe 3 ft. from model. She was laying on a log about 3 ft. off the ground and I was standing on the log as well.

Single speedlight - no modifier, camera left. Model was on a lower part of slight graded trail which made the light source seem higher. I had to practically sit down to get the shot at this angle.

Location shooting with speedlights is the most exciting photography. It's the most exciting to shoot, and the results are the most exciting also. You cannot bring big lights to a shoot with a llama at the ocean unless Sports Illustrated is footing the bill! Master the speedlight!!

Single speedlight at about 30 degrees right of camera, not sure how far out, maybe about 12 feet.  I think this was only the second shoot I did with an off camera speedlight (had an MUA/assistant that day)
