This critique is closed. No longer critiquing because in most cases it's a phenomenal waste of my time.

Sarah your work is phenomenal, but you know this! You have varied expressions (a genuine smile), show great movement, can easily morph yourself into different visions. The only thing that irks me about your entire port is your most recent photo. You look lovely but your eyes are somewhat buggy, like someone has held them open way too widely. Keep up the great work doll!

I think that first picture is going to have to go.  You're not the first person to comment on that.  I have abnormally large eyes so I have to be very careful since I tend to give the appearance of being shocked or bug-eyed.  Didn't do a very good job of compensating for that there... my bad! haha

You've got some cool sh*t man! The only one that doesn't really fit in your port is the last one with the lady and the dog. It doesn't really mesh with all your other stuff. Also, maybe you should consider changing from an artist/painter to a photographer, if you actually take the photos and then edit them to be the way they are. If I was coming to your area as a model, I probably would not have even come across your port because I (and I think a lot of models) don't search for artists, but photographers. Maybe you could even keep this existing one and get another one. Maybe that is a stupid idea, but I'm critiquing so there!

Keep #2 and #5. Everything else is either boring, looks like you and a friend just had fun with a camera, or is unflattering for the model. At the very least make #5 your avatar. I wouldn't click on your current one unless I was doing a critique, which lucky for you I am! Also, try planning out a shoot. Ya know, a concept once in awhile never hurt anyone. Oh yeah, and don't give up, keep at it and all that happy stuff.

Okay Jay, are you ready? Too bad cause here I go-

#2 is horrible. Get rid of it NOW. I understand what you're trying to do with the different expression but it is not working at all. I don't want to waste time on here telling you why certain photos suck so I'll just tell you which ones to keep cause they are great- #'s 3, 5 (you should try doing a shoot like this again, didn't quite nail it this time but if you maybe do something more victorian-esque and somber it could be awesome. Once you do that, replace #5), 8 (this model understood the concept better than #2), 9, 16, 20, 26, 32, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 44, 45, 46, 55, 60, 62, 63, 67, 68, 72, 74, 97. And that is me being generous because I don't want to leave you with 5 photos.
Also, your work is very 'some of this some of that'. You're probably trying to figure out what you're good at which is fine. But sometimes you need to take a hard look at your port objectively and say, does this suck? Cause sometimes it does. You have some great images in there. But they are buried under rubbish. Let those mother f*ckers shine!

I'd start by switching your avatar to the first photo in your port. Also, try to maybe put some effort into your bio. The whole short and sweet thing comes off as I don't give a sh*t. To be honest, none of your photos are remarkable. None of them make me want to shoot with you (not that you'd want to shoot with ME but just sayin'). You just seem like a guy with a camera shooting willy nilly whoever stumbles in front of your camera. Number one is good, 2 is okay, 3 would be good without the model distracting me from the boat, and everything else kind of goes downhill from there man. I wish I had something better to say...you just need to practice more. Also, get rid of #7. She looks like she's taking a poop.

Maybe bullet point your bio or something. I got bored by the second sentence. It should be easy to skim and pick up the important stuff. Yet another photographer who has no idea how to edit down their portfolio. Less us more!

Amazing= 5 (only the last photo in the series. the others are lame and take away from the awesomeness of the third image), 7 (middle image only), 11 (badassery alert), 17, 20, 26, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 45-48 (this is an exception, I can't choose a single one I would force you to let go), 49, 51, 52, 54, 56, 57, 60,

Not good=1,4,29,31, 43, 55, 63

Everything else is meh.

I like the first sentence in your bio, it sets the mood for your images.

Yay for someone who knows how to be choosy! Your work is great but your avatar doesn't do it justice. I would switch it to your first image. I honestly can't find any that I don't like...#9 isn't really up to par with your other stuff though. Your use of light and shadow is phenomenal. Jesse is a stud, it's one of your best images. I also really love...everything!

You're bordering on the dreaded GWC territory. I don't see any that I like, sorry. All of them are cliche, the models can't pose and look uncomfortable...maybe you should take a few classes.

#5 and 6 should be cut down to just the top images. The bottom ones aren't nearly as good and bring the awesome ones above it down. All I could think of when I saw the two abandoned building shots were, "THAT's what you did with that awesome building?!" So much unleashed potential for that place. Go there again with more creative models (like me!). Overall good port and well edited to your strongest images.

A few notes on your bio: no one cares how long you've been modeling. You're not impressing people by saying that, you impress people with your images...take a closer look at your sentence structure or have someone else look at it. You come off as a tad bit illiterate...Abbey is cute...I like your sense of humor.

Stunning=8,10,12,13. These should be on your top tier. 10 or 12 should be your avatar.

I'd get rid of #2. It's not doing anything for you. When I'm bored sometimes I take pictures like this just to see what my *ss looks like. I don't put them in my port and neither should you. #11 makes you look older than you are. #13 makes you look cheap.

I don't like #2. The makeup is weird and the hairdo...it just isn't doing anything for me, but that's just me. #5 looks like a school picture. Not on par with your other work. #14 is bad.

I like 1,3,4,7,20. Everything else is just meh.

Thanks, I do take the photos and should probably change that artist/painter designation, it was left over from a previous idea where I was altering the images more by hand and then re-scanning. These are slides soaked in water until I get a level of degradation I'm after and although it is a physical process and gets a painterly  look it's a bit of a misnomer to call it other than photography.

Thanks again and best of luck.
