You have to keep in mind that regardless of age/height/weight/ etc... if you get connected with the right people and have work that catches your eye, then there is a chance. Catalogue modeling needs people for all ages. But you do have to have the correct expressions and standards they are looking for for that one specific shot. As others stated, narrowing your field to that wont help much. I'm only 5'6" (20 years old) ---(about to be 21 whoop whoop) and my main goal was commercial modeling. But i met the right people, and i am getting ready for commercial work and fashion week 2014 work. --- (even though for fashion week I am becoming a size 2 hahaha but its worth it!) So just keep a broad horizon, network, practice, and network some more. I'm still new to this and learning as I go.. I can tell you its one HELL OF A RIDE. But its so fulfilling and enjoyable! BEST OF LUCK oh ps:.... you must remember that there are so many genres because people are wanting to shoot so many different things. You don't HAVE to shoot the half/full nudes... but it does get you out to a more broadened area. ---Jenna Marie

I prefer to take nude, fully clothed, and partially clothed images. And, generally, models like the range, as I do. They also seem to consider what I do reasonably "classy." As far as "getting discovered or get in magazines" it kinda depends on the magazine, and the model. Some will magazines require nudity, others would never dream of publishing any. Some models have the right look / stats for fashion or commercial. Others not so much. Nude modeling, especially art nude modeling, is much more "equal opportunity" in terms of height, age, weight, and various other factors than "mainstream industry" modeling.

If I shoot half nudes, does that make me half classy?

I think it's very classy denigrating models and photographers who choose to shoot nude and semi nude on a Site that caters to about 90% of that kind of work (at a rough guess)... If you don't want to shoot in that style, fine - it's free-ish Country so I hear - but don't come here bad-mouthing those that do... I support your (RKD) goals, but from what I've read, and checked, the actual numbers are something like 15% of MM models pose nude, and 10% of images are "mature." Which is a long ways from 90%.

Halle Barry did nude scenes long after she "made it." Still think she is unclassy and has low standards?

Unless you need a photo for a website, the back cover of a book you wrote, or to go along with an article about you, there is no such thing as a "classy portrait." Aside from photos for business, portraits are made for one of two reasons: I try to treat portraits as art. No, the first part was a question illustrating what I saw as a contradiction in the op's position. The second part was a statement that offered an alternate view.

Well I guess we won't be shooting anytime soon. First time my fine art nude work has ever been considered non-classy, I guess I and my colleagues were wrong this whole time.... Maybe I should study Classy Standards, what ever That is.

My ethics professor in college was a local pastor. He said that the Christian church was largely responsible for making nudity into something that was shameful. Artists have been sculpting nudes for thousands of years. I agree with the person that said that the female form is God's greatest creation. She can be a life giver, nurturer or destroyer. A woman's body is a man's only chance to be immortal, through children. I am constantly amazed by how different woman's bodies are and yet, every single one of them is beautiful.
