Now that I got your attention. Do you feel the photography would be more interesting if you could write a small narrative after every piece? I would personally like that. It would give the photos an extra dimension. Any thoughts?

Looked at your captions. They aren't narratives.

This is my shot right before the crocodile at my model. The bad news is, my shot was out of focus.. The good news is, well.. there is no good news. I need a new model because a CROCODILE ate mine

do it all the time - but the storyboards are planned in advance and the hook for the editors ironed out later...

I've probably done 100 of these threads, with 5 to 20 posts each, find your medium and prose form and go for it. On the other hand collaborate with someone. LOL

Art should express something that can't be expressed in any other way.  If your photos don't express anything, then write a novel.

You can write long captions on MM from what I've seen.

Text alters context.  Context determines meaning.  It's your image, you decide.

Those legendary photojournalists and historical images actually have interesting stories behind them that are worth telling.  The site didn't just add narratives for the sake of adding narratives.

You do.

If you want something with more space than the captions provide, why not make the suggestion in Site Related?

They don't pay attention to me. I don't believe in fashion. I am like the crazy shirtless drunken uncle who pees on the side of your house at the family 4th of July picnic.

There are one or two art photographers here.  Crazy shirtless drunken ones, even.

Sounds to me like what you'd really enjoy is putting out a book.  Photo essay style.  No?

There are world class photographers here. No doubt. It just seems like it leaves me wanting more when I see a great photo. Maybe it is what my style is evolving to be. I have been at this on and off for 18 months. My style is definitely evolving.

Yep.

If I were trying to show you how to tear down and rebuild a big block Chevy engine, it would be most useful.

A nekkid model?  Not so much.

It's interesting going to museums, people tend to read the little card, glance at the picture/painting/sculpture, then move on.

On the other hand, I just can't read museum-prose- those introductory pieces describing the artist, the work, the context. I think there's a special place in hell reserved for people who write them.

I did that more than a year ago with no results nor response.

My thinking was that a caption was a bit different than some brief notes about the image.  I wasn't thinking "narrative."

I prefer photos that tell the story without any need for additional narrative.
