Probably for better reasons than the folks who question them about it.

let's see .... several answers come to mind.

Cochlear implants to improve auditory problems would nicely complement a naturally beautiful woman.

Dental implants may be necessary if the woman had been in an accident.

Breast implants are wanted by some women after a mastectomy.

A surgical mesh implant can be used for urogynecologic procedures like the repair of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI). It is permanently implanted to reinforce the weakened vaginal wall.

Cranial / neurosurgical implants can be critical for different types of head injury.

A woman might need an intrathecal drug delivery implant for severe pain management.

I hope this helps. These are the things that come to mind.

I see so many women with breast implants. I understand medical needs or reconstruction. Are there that many women that are insecure about there appearance. It is an extreamly painful. I have had surgeries all emergency medical reasons. Natural beauty is becoming more of rarity.

you don't like implants? then don't get them. and let others decide what they do with their bodies for themselves.

I think it's more common to know someone in the modeling industry that has them. I don't know anyone in my personal life that has gotten breast implants.

I'm sorry, but I just lost my coffee over reading that. wink

Co-worker had them installed as she was "Built like a pear."  Apparently one didn't anchor well.  She has to wear a bra else it will "Slip over my shoulder, or move around to my back" as she claims.  She can move it around and point her nipple in different directions which freaks her husband out and he'll sleep on the couch as he thinks she's some biological mutant.  She uses it as her "Not tonight dear" messaging unit.  He refuses to even touch it as it "Grosses him out."  (She offered to show me once and it sort of grossed me out too so I passed.)  Supposedly she's getting them "tuned up" in a couple more years will fix that anchoring matter once she saves up some more.

Oh.  Now she says she's "Built like Gumby."

Haha it's the truth, a few photographers had said it. Even during shoots I have to tell photographers my boobs don't stay in one place, they sag like old water balloons.

But by this time next year I should have the chest of a 21 year old porn star.

My half-sister and stepsister both have breast implants. A friend from high school got them. My boyfriend's sister even has them and wants a bigger pair. I personally don't know ANY models who have them and I do know several models in my area.

OP-It's really none of your business why they get them. If you don't like how they look don't work with them. There are plenty of models who have natural breasts to choose from.

I didn't get the impression that she has a problem with breast implants from her post. I got out of it that she was genuinely curious about it. I could be wrong. Maybe she will clarify that for us.

exactly.  That is why I don't have breast implants.  Plus it would look funny with my beard and penis.  What other people do, is none of my business.  Unless I'm having sex with them.  Then it's my business.  Other than that, not my business.  Others should adopt a similar philosophy.

Because most women who are unhappy with their bodies, for whatever reason, don't know that there are naturally ways to "fix" anything that is "wrong" with their appearance. Hell just massaging your breasts everyday will increase size, firmness and perkiness...not to mention the wondrous things herbs can do (and I'm not talking out of my ass here, I actually grew 1.5" and gained some underboob this way). No matter whether you are for breast implants or not, I would hope it known how dangerous a procedure it is. I don't understand why some users are getting upset with the poster's question. Yes people can do whatever they want with their bodies; but when that thing is extremely dangerous and ultimately unnecessary (vanity aside)...it is not wrong to wonder why someone would do it. If I knew someone that wanted to start using heroin...would it make me a bad person to suggest they not, even though it is in fact their body??

I am glad to see there are still photographers that would rather shoot real beauty than this preconceived notion that the media and particularly our industry has shoved down our throats. Breasts come in many shapes and sizes as do people, I hope eventually that we can all learn to appreciate our unique differences for what they are instead of seeing them as flaws.

Your business, or do you mean your choice to accept/reject to the extent of your own involvement with implants according to your own proclivities?

Society play major role.  We constantly looking at breasts and the larger they are, the more attention they get.

Women are not here to please your aesthetic. And why do you care what adult women are doing that doesn't affect you or concern you?

Why do people remodel perfectly good kitchens?  Aesthetics, personal standards, taste or a desire to improve what someone actually already likes.

In college I knew a girl that got a boob job because her boyfriend was not satisfied with her boobs.

End of story.

She is not the only one.  Sometime they pay for the surgery.

Good for them.

I thought it was a personal decision, being one's body and all.
I'm not against anyone else that wants to do it, but I think it's crazy.

Not a fat/thin rant, just concentrate on the boob part.

The actual answer is: evolution

Women have a perfect natural instinct to not only survive, - which all living creatures have incl. men -, but also to breed offspring. Unfortunately, men tend to choose women with certain specs over others, one of them is visual attractiveness and many prefer the larger boobs than the smaller ones. So whenever a woman choose to have a boobjob for cosmetic reasons, its actually her instinct kicking in by telling her that it really wants to have children. Not very soon, but as a long-term planning investment.

That same instinct also kicks in after a woman gives birth, again, not all of them, but many will cut of their hair to shoulder-length or even bit shorter. Which is a response to men apparently finding women with long hair more attractive. By shortening their hair, they actually unconsciously signal to the other gender that they are not available anymore.

Of course, its a numbers game. The above doesn't apply for everybody and it also depends on other demographics like geography, culture, religion, etc.
