hi  hi  I'm new to the site . Also I'm new to the concept hiring a model to work with. Although I feel like my skills are developing it would provide new challenges and new freedoms for creativity. In the end I'm not sure how the best means for attempting to contact or obtain There services

Use the browse link -

Search for models near you that match your criteria, and send them a PM explaining what you want to do and see what they say. You probably will not get a response from some but all you need is 1 to start. smile

When I find someone I want to shoot with I send them a message with all the details in it up front - concept, dates available, location, compensation, etc.  I find messages that are not too long but have all the details in them right away work better then a message that just says something along they lines of "hey, let's shoot" and not much more.

MM can be pretty hit or miss to whether people actually reply.  If you are offering cash as payment your chances of getting models that respond and show up generally will go up.

You may also want to consider contacting a photographer or two the model has shot with in the past just to see what they are like shooting with.

Welcome to the Mayhem hienvy

Good ways to network are:

Post an availability notice letting people know that you are available (under the casting/travel tab). This is for when you want to charge money. You can offer trade as well.

Search for Casting Calls in your area based on criteria you select. Post a Casting Call letting people know about an idea you have and want to put into a work of art. This is for when you are willing to pay other people. You can offer trade as well.

Search or Post Casting Calls and Travel/Availability Notices

Find the talent and resources you need on Model Mayhem

Browse for models/MUA's in your area and leave comments on images you like, send a friend request or message. Start a list of model's photos that you think are top notch for models in your area. This can become something of a Rolodex. Make sure that you select the Advanced Options and select an appropriate Logged in within:. I typically use 30 days, but you may want people who respond faster. Otherwise you will get models who haven't logged in in over a year. There are a lot of inactive accounts.

Make an announcemnet. Look on the front page for members offering comments for comments, and comment on their photos. Also make an announcement yourself.

Post a bulletin by going to My stuff > bulletins. Friends can see the bulletins you post.

Be active in the forums, but avoid trolls who start threads just to watch the ensuing flame war. Avoid threads that beat the deadhorse over GWC's, flakes, escorts, ..., etc. Make positive constructive comments. Whenever you get published, add some new photos, or accomplish anything in general, post an announcement in the Accomplishments, Achievements and High Fives forum.

Share your other accounts on the Social Media User Name Sharing Thread.

Rinse and repeat.

Good luck in your search!

I feel there is an advantage to hiring as opposed to TF, it might be just me but I am able to focus on my own ideas and goals that way.

I agree. TF is a wonderful resource, but you are subject to finding the models who agree that you can give them something in return and the models you want might not feel that way so a paid transaction helps eliminate the headache of will they/won't they (you might still get a no but it's far less likely to happen when you're paying) and you can focus on your end goal.

Hello, welcome to MM!

As a general rule, you will expect to hire models for life modeling. Around $15-$20/hr is common in the outside-of-bostonish area.

Look around and see if there are any local drawing groups (meetup.com is great depending on area), and give your contact info to the models you really like. There are a few models I know west of Boston/towards NH that are great, definitely worth a browse of people on here!

If you put up a casting on here, state your terms- example, "I need a model for gesture drawings up to 20 minute poses, $15/hr for 3 hours, around this date".

Good luck!
