Lighting Setup Tutorials: basic to advanced
Motel Blue: Setup: SB800 in 24" softbox on a boom (~7 ft high, angled down), in front of a model M x 1/4 silver reflector below two SB600's on left and right (w/small flags), behind a model: M x1/2 Fired w/SU800 Nikon D300 + 24-70 f2.8 1/250s f8 ISO 200 www.MariuszJeglinski.com Jan 25 10 08:57 am Link Hi Mariusz, am I right, that the grid on the softbox causes more sharpness to the model's contours or is it a postprocessed result? Thanks, Marco Jan 26 10 10:45 am Link Actually I use grids on my softboxes to make light more directional. Grid helps me to put light where I want it, and not where I don't. Found some really funky as well as helpful links on this site: http://www.vandyll.net/?tag=photography Some of the links DO work... some don't. But this one is especially entertaining: http://www.photoworkshop.com/static/lig … index.html http://www.photoworkshop.com/rooms3d BUT... the Hensel Light Guides are very cool and those links do work. Haven't been through the whole thing on the vandyll.net, but glad to have come across it though. Hope that people find use for the links. Mar 18 10 11:44 am Link I bookmarked then changed the name. From February: and the image: Mar 19 10 10:36 am Link So, who's the next? Mar 23 10 02:53 pm Link Bump Bump! Mar 27 10 05:24 am Link I used 84â silver PLM as background. I wanted to get some shimmer light on modelâs skin so I suspended a hammock vertically fairly close to the model. I placed AB1600 with 7â reflector and 20 degree grid about 6-7 feet away from hammock. This way hard light was partially softened by hammock but still was leaving distinguishable marks on the skin. Found a fascinating blog from one of Dick Avedon's assistants in the 50's and 60's. http://lifeslittleadventures.typepad.co … don_years/ He talks quite a bit about Dick's lighting as well as approach to photography. Not so much a "hand-held" lesson mind you but well worth the read! Dick Avedon is a personal hero of mine! Mar 29 10 01:33 am Link This needs more updates... How about you pick something from my port and I'll give you the breakdown on it... I know there was a house on that side, and my yellow truck right behind. Maybe I was just lucky, lol. Either way, it convinced me to shoot available more often, glad it happened.
