Profoto Acute both packs and monolights. If I need something battery powered, the Rental house is 15 minutes away.

I have heard that SB800's can "melt down" during extensive use with battery packs.

It seems that Nikon did the inexcusable by not providing basis thermal protection in their $350 flagship flash.

ha!  melted a 550ex like that.  not only nikon is suspectible to thermal breakdown.

Probably best to let the unit cool for a bit after 20-30 shots.

Small, gas-powered 1200 watt generator for longer location shoots.

Can you describe this more please are you hooking the AB to the hensel, is that even possible?

I want to use either a Hensel or Profoto ringflash, I've tried the ABR800, don't like it outside, but like AB800 for the price.

Are you talking about the new packs (with the drawers) or the old ones (with the plugs)?

It's optional (though at that price point you're closing in on a Mini) -
