Doesn't that make you sad? That makes me think about the few "celebrity" deaths that made me feel really sad.

Yeah I know how you feel. I still think about how sad I am going to be when Bill Cosby kicks the bucket sad I'm pre-sad about it

What a bummer! What was that one move?  I think it was The Ghost and mr. Chicken - HILARIOUS.  He brought a lot of joy while he was here (and will continue to do so on NICK AT NITE - YEAH!)

I thought he was much older than 81. I thought he was a member of the Century Club, or pretty close to it. Loved the Lana chasing playboy from Three's Company. My favorite episode with him was the one where Mrs. Roper makes a cameo appearance and he wakes up in bed with her.

I used to watch The Andy Griffith Show with my dad (who's passed away also).  And my dad's favorite character was Barney Fife.  I got many laughs out of that show.  Anyone remember Don Knotts in the Apple Dumpling Gang?  I loved that as a child:-)

Yes, he & Tim Conway made a couple of really funny movies. Donald Jesse Knotts, a truly funny & talented comedian!

He came out with "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken", "The Reluctant Astronaut", "The Shakiest Gun in the West", and "How to Frame a Figg", almost back to back in the late 60s/early 70s.  I'd just watched "How to Frame a Figg" a few weeks ago.  He was truely one of the Hollywood greats and will be missed.

Barney Fife was hilarious

His parents were farmers, and Knotts was raised "dirt poor" in West Virginia
