A few times on these forums, I've seen posts from photographers who claim they get emails, or have actually had photoshoots, with models who offer "special" rates for "special" shoots.

Now, I've been shooting photos for about a decade and I have never ONCE had a single model offer me any kind of "special services" before, during, or after a shoot.

I figure this must be due to one of 3 things:

1 - I've never found any hooker/models and they have never found me. Now, this is a possibility. But, considering how long I've been shooting, it seems that by random-chance, I should have encountered at least ONE such practitioner-of-the-oldest-profession.

2 - I've met a lot of them, but they don't want me as a customer. This could be because I look so much like Steve Buscemi, that they won't touch me. Or because I look so much like Colin Farrell, that they assume I do not require their services. One can only guess ...

3 - They are a myth. Photographers invent these stories to make their Andy Griffith lifestyle sound more James Bond.

So which answer is it? I really think it's a myth and these hooker/models are not real at all. Just seems too silly. To quote Robert Heinlein:
"Everybody lies about sex."

that's a myth ; a wet dream a bar story.

reality; models are  models, escorts are escorts

I photograph both - consider my city - the two do not mix!

escorts , come, get pics, pay in cash and leave; done!
they are very business like, and don't offer favors.
Time is money to them,  money is everything to them.

So, NO, they will NOT offer to sleep with you!

Most are sophisticated, most come with a laptop. I load the pics directly to their laptop.
and adios!

Fourth possibility:  You seemed so straight-arrow that the, er, ladies feared to speak up about their other available delights.  More broadly:  The oldest profession is illegal almost everywhere in USA, so the practitioners have to be careful not to make the first offer.  Maybe you encountered some, but you didn't suggest any hanky-panky, so the moments passed.

Ah! You may very well have hit upon the true answer which I did not consider! Hmmm. Interesting theory.

Fortunately for those in that profession, it's a safe bet that some percentage of male photographers will suggest hanky-panky, as models on this site frequently relate, to the models' chagrin.  So, even if the professionals don't make the first offer, some deals will be, um, consummated.

Not a total myth.   Maybe overstated or overblown-:-)  but it is a fact.

Have known some that worked both ends but we are talking once a month or so and often no sex involved.

Big lawyers and such love to go to charity events, weddings, and reunions with someone who is not attached but hot.

Too much baggage to bring a true date.

Not surprised.  The models who provide other services are only a small percentage, and they look just like regular models.  As usual between men and women, the man must make the first move, or nothing happens.

::he got more action as an English teacher?  should I ask about that?::

That is because of the baggage that comes along with this industry.

We have thread on getting excited,  being asked on dates,  asking people on dates,  creepy people,  and all that.

People hook up in the real world.   The people who know the industry know the taboo of crossing the line when it is not the right time or place.

Fault on the side of caution is the rule for most.

I am glad there was no such rule when I was bartending.  :-)

With the great mulititudes out there, wouldn't you think that at least one model would step up and admit that she did "cross over to the dark side" on some occasion ?

Come on, just make something up, or tell us it was to pay the rent.  We're guys, we'll believe anything you tell us.

If you take into account our geographical location then option #3 is not realistic. Women in North America will do anything and everything for money and nothing else matters. It's only a question of how much you offer.

What about men? And why do you think this is a geographical issue?

This past year, I've had the 'special photo offer' offered to me twice. This isn't a myth.  For the non-models, some ladies of the evening have found another way to seperate you from your casth /tim

There are all kinds of agendas on internet modeling sites and modeling is not always one of them. I know of at least one model on another site who is very definately is an escort because when I went to her own site, via the link that she had on the modeling page, it was an escort site. I have also been jerked around by a "model" who contacted me first saying that she was moving to my area and wanted to shoot with me. I tend to be a friendly and helpful person so I provided alot of local information on where to find apartments, what to do in the area, etc. Then came the hints about staying at my house, which I did not respond to. Funny how I never heard from her again after that.

Such is life on the internet.

One of the very few models who indicated her availability to me, said that when she did escort work, she charged from $500 to $2,000.  Our negotiations thus ended before they began.
